my baby has stopped kicking.. ?

    hi all...

ive been keeping track and monitoring in a journal of all my baby's kicks and movements for the past couple of weeks. it kicks over 10 times a day.. and without fail every morning between the 9am-10am..

this morning and today... nothing..!! i have not felt it kick since last night around 6pm.. ive only felt two very small movements today.. im scared something is wrong.

should i be worried? if it doesnt kick by tomorrow i will call my OB..

I think for your own peace of mind I would call your care provider. Are you seeing a private OB or seeing the midwifes at your hossy? If it was me I would just go into the materinty unit I am booked into & ask for a quick check. Let them know you have been keeping track & its worryin gyou.

Chances are bubs has just found a nice cozy spot & is resting up. But worring can be stressful so IMO is worth getting checked.

Some people also say to have a really cold drink then lay down & that usually gets bubs moving.

I think FJ is spot on - have a cold drink and lie down for a while and if that doesn't get your little one moving contact your care provider and tell them that you're coming in for monitering.

    Ditto above.

If you have been busy you sometimes don't notice the movements. Also, bubs have quiet times too.
But if you are concerned do take a trip to the maternity ward of the hospital which you will be birthing in.
Cold drinks, eating ice and chocs all gets bubs moving. Lie down and concentrate on your belly!

I just did a bit of research on Google and it said that you should pick a specific time of day when your relaxed and quiet and put 30 minutes aside and in those 30 minutes you then do you baby kick count. As most other times of the day you may not feel the baby move because you are busy in your daily duties but within that 30 minutes of quiet time is best. It also said that you need not start the count till third trimester but I don't agree with that one, I think you should start the counting when you are confident that you are feeling movements. I only started feeling movements about 2 weeks ago and although I do feel movements through out the day I feel the good ones at night after dinner when we are sitting in front of the TV. I am going to use this time as my 30 minute count.

Not sure if that helps at all.

    Ditto what everyone else said.

A slurpee is ideal if you are going to try the cold drink option.

Small movements are fine by the way so I'm sure you are worrying for nothing.

Hi-I'm really new to this forum stuff. I don't have an answer in regards to not feeling the baby move other than it's definately something you always want to inform your Dr of.
This is completely off subject but I read an old forum of yours from what seems like January prior to you conceiving-congrats by the way. It was about brown spotting/flow prior to your period. The last thing I read you wrote was that your OB had referred to it as part of your flow and to consider it the beginning. I've been TTC for a year now with no luck and have had a LAP, DYE study labs and everything and even my husband sperm count are all considerd Normal. My frustration is that I have brown flow and rusty red(sorry gross)comes out when I esp go to the bathroom- this all for about 4 to 5 days prior to 1 to 2 days of blood then it really goes away. I don't know what day to consider CD1
DID it help you changing your CD1 to this flow instead of bright red? THANK you so much for your help!!!

    Hi,

I had the same thing happen a few weeks ago so i rung the hospital as it had been about 3 days. They got me to go in and they listened for the heartbeat. Everything was fine, like someone else said, i was probably just busy and didn't notice the movements.

    The hospital gave me a pamphlet re baby movements. It lists the following factors that can affect baby's regular movements;
    - Not eating regulary through the day
    - Not drinking enough fluids
    - Use of illicit drugs
    - Placental position
    - Prescribed medications
    - Over activity through the day
    - Being unwell
    - May be the usual pattern for your baby

They also told me to have a really cold drink/something sweet to eat - this worked really well.

I felt so stupid when the midwife said she could hear the baby moving around but they did tell me i did the right thing contacting the hospital for a quick checkup as sometimes you just don't know.
