    More than 7 attempts???

I am fairly new to this web site and was hoping to hear from anyone who has received a BFP after 7 or more unsuccessful IVF attempts. I am doing a bit of soul searching at the moment and feel like I need a good news story to keep me going.

    Hi Molly

I wish that I could provide you with a positive story, but I do know that when I was at our IVF clinic after our last FET, talking to the councillor there, she said that until we had passed 10 unsecessful attempts then we were in the 'normal' range (implying we had nothing to worry about - yet)! I know that this is not likely to be comforting, but hang in there, and I really hope that your BFP is not too far away. It is so easy, and totally understandable why you feel disalusioned (we all go there at some time) - but I hope that you find the support here that can help you.

    Good luck

Farmgirl - actually that is really great to hear that 7 is not considered that extreme. No one has told me that before
Good luck and lots of for your TWW - hopefully you will have a positive story for me very soon!!!!

    Hi, mollygirl1977

I can give you a bit of hope, it took me 9 transfers to get a BFP.
Like you I was starting to think it would never happen. Still to this day I find it hard to understand why the other 8 transfers didn't work, then when I finally got pregnant, it was with twins. Don't give up because you never know it could be the next transfer that could work for you.

    Hi Molly
Hang in there! It is a long, tough road with no GPS to know if you will ever reach your destination! We tried for 10 years...tracking with chlomid, IUI, IVF, ICSI, FET...and then threw my hands in the air, spat the dummy...quit my job...moved to the bush...drank way to much...and got the biggest surprise of our lives...two little blue lines...and here we are 15 weeks pregnant!? Go figure?

When I phoned my clinic to tell them we were pregnant they told me that the 2 other girls at the clinic who had been trying for over 10 years had both fallen pregnant in the same month as me...one with a fresh IVF cycle and the other FET. I hope that helps and doesn't put you off...10 years is a long time...but now I have this precious little one growing inside of me it was so worth the wait! I wish you all the luck in the world...best wishes xxx

I fell on my 8th cycle, 7th transfer. They didn't know why it took me so long as the only identified issue I have is blocked tubes. I've since had an FET that was also unsuccessful. So who knows why it works first time for some people, and it takes longer for someone else. There are just some of us for whom it's just not as easy.

But yes, just because it hasn't happened within 7 cycles, doesn't mean it won't happen. A lady I met at my aqua classes fell on her 1st cycle, then with her 2nd child, it took her 12 cycles. Hang in there! It can happen, there is no magic number of cycles uunfortunately. I hope it won't be long now for you.

Thank you all for your stories of hope and wonderful outcomes. Generally I do try to stay as positive as i can - but there are good days and bad days. I am sure that one day i will have that wonderful outcome that i so dearly pray for.

Hey Molly - trust me, we all have good days and bad days - even without the added 'plus' of extra hormones in the system! Dont beat yourself up too much (easier said than done) Like Sushee said, it can be soooo hard to understand why it does not seem to be working when there is only a little hurdle to overcome (for us, it is issues) and the treatment we are on is should get us over it.

    Good luck

    hi Molly,

It took us until the 7th transfer for it be the right one.......and this was spread over a period of about 15 months on IVF....and lots of trying before that and in between! Who knows why some take first one, 7th one or 20th one... for me it was my 2nd FRESH transfer, and I this one was the ONLY embryo I was left with after the Stim cycle...but it only takes one..........and it was the one for us - now 22 weeks preggo....amazing.

I have also been told that the average success rate is about 8-10 attempts. But remember this means that average, so many take a little longer....much easier to say but not so easy to wait. This is what I hated - waiting and not feeling in control, particularly since my first child was conceived naturally in a space of 3 months !!!

MY VERY best of luck to you. We do know what you are going through and here to listen.

    Hi Everyone,
I am a new member to this website. We have been on the IVF rollarcoaster for the past three & a half years. We have had a total of 15 embryo transfers, with one weak positive result (which didn't make it) and one miscarriage (at 6 weeks). We have just used our last remaining frozen embryo, and it didn't take. So we are facing having to do another full stimulation cycle.
I feel very lost......the last two transfers, my doctor said that the embryo looked great.......and yet it still wasn't the one. All of my support people are trying to maintain my hopes, by telling me that I fell pregnant once, so it will happen again. I wish I could believe that.
I have been having acupuncture, reflexology and seeing a naturapath, all of whom have been fantastic and very supportive. I had my best result from my last full stim cycle, I believe, because of commencing reflexology. They are all there ready to go through the journey again.
I just don't know what else to do.........

    Hi Forever hopeful
    and
I'm really sorry for the losses that you have experienced on your TTC journey - it sounds like you have had a long and hard journey so far. It is good that you have a strong support team around you to help you overcome this time of hardship, but hope that you also find some great support here at BB - there is nothing like being able to share support with people who know how you are feeling because they are going through it as well!

    Good luck
    FG
