ultrasound at 19 weeks and worried

i have my ultrasound next friday and i am worried. i had my last when i was 11 weeks and things were fine, but because there has been no sign of the bub for the last 8 weeks, i start to get paranoid and ask myself if its still there as there is only my small tummy.

its this constant worry because i dont see any signs.

With my first two DD's I didn't even notice I was pg until late at night in bed when I felt some flutters at 22wks + Don't stress, you'll feel better on Friday

    Sarah

P.S. This time DS has been kicking the crap outta me all the time since 9ish wks and I am wishing for some peace!

I think between those two u/s can be the hardest time as there is no proof!! I don't like it either and I definitely worry until I get the 19 week done.
    Good luck xo

skoon - i didnt get a belly with DD until 31 weeks!!! and no movement until 24 weeks.
And no symptoms either! lol so i understand that feeling of ''they say im pregnant but i dont feel it!'

you will be amazed at your next scan to see what i wonderful little human is secretly growing in there!!

Yeah its so hard between the 12 week and 19 week scan, the morning sickness has died down but bub generally isn't kicking very consistently or very hard, and there isn't a midwife appointment between 12 and 20 weeks to reassure you (well wasn't for me...) so it can be a very nerve racking time wondering if everything is ok.

I'm sure bub will be fine! Try to relax, don't worry too much, and enjoy your pregnancy (before it all becomes too much LOL!).

I know exactly how you're feeling. It is really hard to wait that long between scans, especially when you just don't 'feel' pregnant. I'm 22 weeks now and still don't look pregnant at all, but bubs measures perfect and healthy - so don't worry if you don't have much of a belly yet. Don't worry about not feeling movements yet either. I only started feeling movements around 20-21 weeks. I know it's a hard, long wait - but I'm sure everything will be fine with your bub! Good luck!

I have my first scan at 12 weeks and the next one at 19 weeks. I was also freaking. But everything was just fine and u will be suprized how much they are moving around in there even when u cant feel it.

It is natural to feel nervous I think. Maybe because you arent experiencing any symptoms you could ask your doctor to use the doppler so you can hear the heart beat when you visit. I thinkyou can even hire or buy these as well.

Hey there just go to a GP if you are worried and they should be able to hear babies heart beat from 16wks.. I haven't had a scan since 12 weeks and don't have one til next wed but I have heard babies heart beats (I have twins) twice just at the doctors.. Mind you I am at docs all the time as I am a high risk pregnancy, but if you go and ask to hear heart beat I doubt they would say no.. Good luck.

hi girls, just thought id update you. Went to the ultrasound and bub is still there. The lady doing the ultrasound was terrible. She took 1.5 hr. She could not see the head properly because baby was in awkward position. So then she did vaginal ultrasound. Then consultant came in and said she missed one part. So had to get on the bed again. She still could not find it so consultant tried and found it instantly. I asked about the gender and she said legs were too close together and i should of asked her at the beginning. She was so cold and didn;t give much feedback when doing the ultrasound. I kinda feel ripped off as i was so looking forward to this ultrasound.

That's terrible about the ultrasound woman not being very friendly or competent (by the sounds of it). Are you having any later scans? I hope you get a great scan experience, because it really can be a magical thing seeing bubs on the screen.

How horrible, I'd make a complaint about it to the head of department!
I've never heard of having to have an internal at 20weeks!

Good heavens, that's terrible! Was it through the hospital, or a private company?
When I had my 19wk scan last time the u/sonographer was a right cow too, she practically ignored DH - had her back to him and told him to just watch the screen. Then she just talked to me, basically. And told us the same about the sex - "You should have told me earlier." Well we've never done this before, how are we supposed to know?!?
Really sorry that you had a crappy experience. Don't blame you for feeling ripped off. BTW, if it is a private clinic, I'd be requesting another one as the technician sounds like she was below par - I've never heard of them having to do an internal at 20 weeks either!
