There are many things you can do to keep your child from getting a flat head. Reducing the amount of time the baby spends laying in the same position is the number one thing you can do to prevent flat head.Encourge the baby to lay on his tummy.Babywearing may also help.It is when you carry your baby around in a sling. The amount of time the baby spends with pressure on the back of the head may also be a reason. Also try to avoid putting baby in the car seat for a long period of time.
Starting to think this may be a bit of a phalacy! DS is a back sleeper, doesn't move much in his sleep. I don't change the ends of his cot, and guess what?... no flat spot. Bawld spot yes, but no flat. Maybe all babies are different, but i really think that this is one of those thinks that people get too exited about, and may not even happed.
I do think babies do get flat heads if they sleep on their back continuously for a long time.Generally till the age of seven to eight months, if a little care is taken it can be avoided...In addition to the methods suggested I am mentioning a method my granny used to avoid flat heads. She used to make a pillow just a liitle one, enough for the lil' ones head and fill it with black mustard seeds. She then put the head of the sleeping baby on that hand made pillow. The pillow supported the head of the baby and took a perfect round shape and the baby's head too grew to be perfect round one , on all sides
