Not sure how many of us will be in here, not many of us popped "on time".
I gave birth to Elise on the 12.12.08.
3.295 kg or 7lb4oz
51cms
and 33.5 head circ.
She has already gained back her birth weight and was 3.370 kgs last Saturday and she is developing a lovely double chin.
She's a good baby, doesn't cry unless she is hungry or needs a change etc, other than that she is contented, no hours of screaming so far like my first.
She seems to cluster feed between 7pm and midnight, every 1 - 2 hours but can go for a while during the day usually 3-4 hours sometimes more.
She loves a cuddle and won't go to sleep on her own, but I don't mind too much, I love to give her cuddles and they are only so nice and cuddly like this for such a short time.
I'm feeling extra happy today because the MIL has gone home after being here for 5 weeks. 1500k's is just the right distance
That's about all from me.
Hopefully some other mummies pop in soon
I know Aimee isn't a december baby but hopefully no one will mind if I stick with the same group as my belly buddies
ll80- glad everything is going well, thank god your MIL has left Im sure it will be lovely to have some quiet family time (well mabye not quiet with a newborn)
At our 6 week check Aimee was 5kg (she was 3.12kg at birth) so over 400g gain in a week. She is in the 90th % for weight and 75th% for length and HC. not bad for 4 weeks early. I woke to AF this morning. Not fair I am exclusiveley bf have put up with mastitis and thrush only to get AF at 6 weeks after the birth. I have told Tony all I want for christmas is a new body lol
Aimee is waking up once overnight for a feed she normally feeds at 9ish,2am and 6am during the day she generally feeds 2-4hrly. She still has explosive poos and waits until her nappy is off, so I had the fun of scrubbing poo off the nursery wall saturday afternoom yuck
hello ladies! so glad i found this thread - good to see you two in here too, where is everyone else? only just starting to get back on bb myself, been in a wonderful baby daze and nothing else has mattered. It still doesnt havent dusted my coffee table since she was born - usually this is done 2-3 times a week, but ATM i really dont give a damn!
Matisse is a homebirthed, cloth bummed, breastfeeding, sling worn, co sleeping little angel. So very proud
She was 3.72 kilos at birth, dropped to 3.52 in about 48 hours, then by 6 days after birth she was up to 3.9 kilos and get chubbier by the day. I think i'll get the midwife to weigh her again today, so curious!
Overnight she is just a dream, wakes once, no cries, has a feed then goes straight back to sleep in my arms, its so very lovely. During the day she has had a bit of colic and we now know she is a 3 burps kinda girl, BIG ONES!
ll80 - you are a strong woman hun, my MIL stays for about half an hour and thats enough!
sara - yummy poo wall - you should have taken photos, could have sold it as art!!
Glad to see that we have ventured over to the other side.
Just back from getting miss porky chops weighed - she weighed 3.47kg's at birth 52cm length - today 18 days later she weighs a whopping 4.15kgs - we are feeding via bottle but I'm expressing and topping up with a little formula as my supply can't keep up with her demand - she takes at least 6-7 bottles of 120mls each day and I still pop her on the boob whenever she is grizzly.
She is a lovely little thing - so far (KNOCK ON WOOD!!) she is a content baby - very little seems to worry her - she has suffered from some colic also and we changed her formula and introduced some infacol and brauers colic relief and it seems to have done the trick.
Her jaundice is getting much better and I can finally see what colour she is - i know that sounds funny but she has been pumpkin colour for the entire time.
She won't sleep in her bassinet through the day but will happily sleep in the bouncer in the loudest part of the house - she seems to like the noise from her big brother - i on the other hand would happily donate him to a good home free of charge - he has just discovered how to be naughty and loud all at the same time - IT"S DOING MY HEAD IN!!
on the plus side - i used my sling today and she loved it - so it gave me free hands whilst up the shops - BJ has decided to become a runner!!
OK enough waffle - looking forward to catching up - in the mean time if I don't get back on before Xmas - have a very MERRY XMAS one and all and enjoy the special times with your families - hugs and kisses xx
Gee I wish Elise would sleep at night, last night she was awake every 1- 1 1/2 hrs for a feed. She would only take one side at a time before zonking out so I am sure that's why, she just wouldn't wake up for the other side so I gave up.
I was so out of it at one point I couldn't remember if I had just woken up, how many hours it had been lol I think I was also dreaming about feeding her, took me 5 minutes to wake up and figure out what the hell was happening.
Elise hasn't had any colic or reflux (touch wood) she is a champion burper, farter and pooer just like her daddy lol.
On a sadder note MIL might be here in three weeks again, god help me, with the SIL and her tribe of three boys for a few weeks. What can I say about that except
Dianna Elise was a little jaundice as well, just today she is a nice pink and looking very pretty.
Sararose - LOL on the poo, DD was standing a bit close to the change table the other day getting a good look at how I change a nappy and Elise decided to do a good splatter, luckily her bum was pointed down at the time and it just went into the nappy underneath otherwise DD would have copped a face full.
Kitten - How you finding the cloth, I am finding it pretty easy not as much work as I thought it would be at all. I just ordered some CT's today cause DH is too unco to work out prefolds and covers.
ll80 - i am in love with my cloth, DH doesnt mind at all and they really are so nice on her bum. She has pretty much grown out of the NB ones now, more into smalls/one sized. Do you mean cushie tushies or cute tooshies? Good luck with the MIL
Dianna Q - sounds like she is putting on weight very nicely! we should inroduce our babies, we are both in sydney... is anyone else?
Cushie Tushies I think.
DH loves the cloth but miss elise wriggles and squirms to much for him to be able to get the prefold on and snappi it lol.
Elise has such a skinny waist and legs that i think I'll get another few weeks out of the NB, she is going to be long and skinny I think where as DD1 was more compact and chubby, roll on top of roll.
count me in Kitt3n - I'm up for a meet and greet any time you are.
Laura - WTF is with the family deciding to pop on over for a couple of weeks!! - you may or may not remember but my sister decided to do the same thing 3 days before my due date - it was all too much and I was soooooooooooo relieved to have my house back.
LOL about siblings being interested in the bowel movements - the other day Zahlia was doing a massive no.2 it took 3 nappies and 30 minutes for her to finish - but the funniest thing was that BJ was at her bum level encouraging her along - "you can do it Zahlia" - "you're such a pretty bubba" "Good Girl"- lol - in the mean time DH and I are trying not to wet ourselves with laughter
Hi all, hope you had excellent Christmas' mine was very quiet one which I really enjoyed.
Well I am tired, my 4 yr old has turned into a constant whinger, it's doing my head in. I try to be as patient as I can but when I am running on only a few hours of broken sleep there isn't much there. I am not sure if she is worse since Elise came along or if she seems worse cause I'm tired. DH thinks it's just me.
Miss Elise is well, she has been a bit windy today and yesterday but is generally good at farting it all out without too much complaint. She has been a little fussy in settling though, which is fair enough poor little tum gives her grief but once she has it all out she drops right off. Just means I am not getting much else done that I want to around the place, which I find frustrating but need to let go a bit, I can only do so much.
No real routine here yet, she is all over the place with her feeds my poor boobs don't know what's going on. Sometimes she will feed every 1-2 hours sometimes 3-4 and rarely 4-5 during the day. Last night she wouldn't settle til 5am after waking at 330 for a feed, then she did a champion fart and nodded off.
Can't wait til a few weeks hopefully she will sleep for some longer periods around that 6 week mark.
LOL Dianna kids say some funny things, DD says some really funny things sometimes, I wish I could remember them all.
Merry Christmas all for yesterday. I hope everyone had a great day and Santa was kind!!
Update on how Lily is going, she is still sleeping between 6 and 8 hours straight a night, then she feeds and sleeps another 3 hours. It is wonderful. We had our first clinic visit on the 24th and she has put on 700grams, they said that normally they hope babies will put on 150 - 200 grams per week, well in 2 weeks ands 3 days from coming home from hospital she had put on 700grams - which is lots, they are very happy though, they couldnt believe how well she is doing and how placid she is, she just slept pretty much the whole visit and didnt cry once with all of her tests etc. I guess the hardest thing for me at this point in time is dealing with family. Normally it is ppl complaining about MIL insrtead it is mine that is the problem and trying to make life hard for us. Everything seems to be a huge competition as to who sees Lily most. Oh well, i keep trying to bite my touge......... have a funyy feeling i wont be able to for much longer.
Anyway, those who are going away have a safe and enjoyable holiday, and to everyone else, keep safe and enjoy everything. We are hopefully heading away for a couple of weeks......... very much looking forward to it.
Hi ladies!
Yaay! i finally found you all! And have got some time to actually post!! Wow girls - your babies all sound like such good sleepers!! Is it a girl thing i wonder??!! Ochre sleeps well - just not long enough. He is only sleeping in 2-3 hour blocks still. He feeds (breastfed only) every 3 hours and it whacking on the weight gain now too. He did 500 grams in a week then 300grams the next 3 days. He's now graduated to crawler nappies too! Life is very busy with 3! I'm finding my second DS is affected most by ochres arrival...i just dont get the time to be with him like i used to. His big brother has been amazing though and keeps him entertained. Ochre has developed the lovely milk rash on his cheeks. Any of your babies got that yet? I'm loving the Brauers colic relief and Infants Friend too. Doesn't matter how many burps i get out of him though he still farts like a champion!! Where do your babies sleep in the day? I'm wondering if ochre has got his nights and days mixed up. Do you all wrap your babies for sleep time? I'd love for Ochre to sleep longer but i dont see it happening soon. since he has hit 5 weeks (the big growth spurt week) he is ravenous at the breast...his sucking has gotten a lot stronger and he is feeding 3 hourly in a 24 hour period. i have a wonder week coming up (week 6) and i 'wonder' what that will bring hehe. xx
Wow ladies I'm so jealous of your gobbly bubs! I could of said the same thing about Belle only a few days ago, but since then she has turned into a screaming, refusing to eat little monster! For the first 2 weeks she was a dream, eating and sleeping lots, but the last 3 days have been a nightmare. She latches on to the breast for a few sucks then pulls off screaming. She gets so worked up that feeding is impossible and I have to rock her to sleep. It's breaking my heart to see her so hungry but not eating. I have a dr appoint on Tues so I think I'll take her along to see if there's anything she can suggest.
I've tried the Brauers Colic Relief but it doesn't seem to work. Are you meant to give it to bubs before or after a feed?
claire - oh you poor thing! i know how frustrating and worrying that can be. i had the same problem with my second son. at about 8 days old he just started refusing to take the breast and i couldn't work out why. in the end we figured it out - he hated the Lansinoh nipple cream i was using. the minute i washed it off and presented him with a clean nipple he was back to feeding normally. i hope u find the answer soon hon. about the brauers im not sure - i have given it before, after and during a feed. if anyone knows if there is a 'proper' time to give it i'd also love to know xx
Laura our bubs must be on the same schedule, 2-3 hours is the most I get too.
No milk rash as yet here, I don't think Abby ever got one either.
During the day Elise either sleeps in the rocker or on someones chest lol she's a bit spoilt, depends on how much I have to do around the place and if I am looking for an excuse to get out of it
At night she was in the cot next to my side of the bed but she was waking every hour - hour and a half, wanting to be settled again, so I've ended up co sleeping since last night. Had the best night last night she fed at 11 then woke at 230am then again at 630 and then at 10am so I got a few good blocks of sleep, feeling a bit more human today.
Claire I'm not sure if there is a proper time to give it, I've given it to Elise twice, once just before a feed and the other time was about an hour after cause she was super windy. Such a hard thing to know what to do and very trying on the patience, I hope she is feeding better for you today.
Anthea I am very jealous of your 6-8 hours sleep, I hope she keeps it up for you.
Good Luck with your mum, I hope she comes to her senses soon.
I am going to take Elise to get weighed tomorrow, it's been over a week now and I am curious to see what she is up too in her measurements.
Hi hope everyone had a good christmas. We had a great day but very busy.
Clair- I normally give aimme the colic relief before a feed and the infacol too if she needs it. I hope Belle settles soon for you
Littlelalla- congrats on ochre's weight gain sounds like he is doing well. Aimee doesn't like having her arms trapped so I am no longer wrapping. I didn't wrap Jasmine for long either, I figure its easier to get them used to being unwrapped earlier rather than later.
Anthea- Lily sounds like she is doing well, I hope your family back off a bit.
ll80 - lol on your boobs not knowing what is going on, Its wonderful when Aimee sleeps a bit longer but I end up waking up in a puddle of milk.
Aimee slept from 11pm-7am not last night but the night before, it was wonderful. Last night was 10-30 to 3-30 then 8-30. She is doing a mad 3 hrs of cluster feeds in the evening that can be a bit wearing but the more often she feeds in the evening the longer she sleeps at night. She has a lovely milk rash at the moment not a good look. We are doing well feeds are becoming shorter and she settles more quickly afterwards. Aimee is almost out of her 000 clothes already, I have to go through all the 00 clothes and wash them this week. Aimee still does a big chuck after every feed so I am constantly washing bibs, clothes and sheets but she seems to be gaining weight and doing well despite all the spew. During the day Aimee sleeps wherever, generally in the portacot ( i am using it like aplaypen to protect her from dd1) or in her swing and night sleeps are in the bassinett in our room still. I cant believe she is over 6weeks old now, time flies so quickly. I think I will weigh her when we get the 2month vaccinations in a couple of weeks.
ll80 - wow that was a great sleep!! doesn't it feel amazing when they give you some nice big blocks of sleep. i think i'm about due for one - hopefully tonight!! ochre pretty much sleeps on his rocker or on someones chest during the day too. i put him in his cot for one block of sleep during the day though. i hear you on the co-sleeping. i tend to put ochre in bed with me after his 5am feed and he goes thru til 8 -9 ish am. i can get some sleep then too if the older DS's keep quiet!!! (not an easy thing when our loungeroom is right near our bedroom!)
sara- my gosh that was a fantastic sleep! how did your boobs go? mine would be GINORMOUS! ochre has just started chucking up after every feed too. i was starting to worry but now that you have mentioned aimee does it maybe it's just a normal thing for them to do. my other boys were not chuckers so it's new for me. i'm slowly learning to use a chuck cloth every time i burp him now - otherwise i end up with a big pool between my breasts or on my shoulders and all thru my hair eww!!!
My lovely little man is smiling and gooing at people now. It's so very cute and quite heart melting. I can now finally say 'it's not wind!'. Well, i better scoot. My DS 1 and DS 2 are staying at the grandparents for a few nights so i've managed to whip up a yummy chicken casserole and pavlova. And...even managed to post more than once on here today!! yaay!! xx
anyone's bubs a bit cross eyed at times? We have mastered the art of laying down to feed, nights and mornings are just lovely! had some supply issues, took some fenugreek and now i have 2x niagra falls again.
little l - awwwwww at the gooing! he is such a beautiful looking baby.
sara - wow, nearly out of 000's! need to see some pics!
ll80 - enjoy the co sleeping, i really do find it lovely, dont think i could rest if she was in the cot.
clair - i tend to give the brauers only if she is having difficulty getting up a burp, and then i only give her half the dose (ill give her the other half of the dose if she cant get a burp up after the other side)
but speaking of burps, what do you guys do if you just cant get one out? sometimes ill burp for 15 mins and still nothing, she falls asleep and then gets the most awful farts...... any ideas?
