What will you be doing with the government's $1000 per child christmas bonus?

    Hi everyone,

Was just curious to start this thread ... how will you be spending your "bonus"?

I won't be getting any But if I did, I'd probably spend a little on items for the kids, maybe for things they need like clothes, shoes etc. And perhaps one new toy. But overall I think I'd just save it...I know I know, foiling Mr Rudd's evil spending plan... but hey, he "gave" it to us, we should be able to do what we like with it!

I just hate to think of that money being wasted, particularly in say some of the "poorer" families (I'm sure you know the kind I mean), where they have 5-6 kids, but then will just waste it on alcohol/drugs, and none of it will be spent on the kids, or buying necessities....

Anyway, hope you all enjoy your christmas bonus!! Too bad it wasn't next christmas, or even at the end of the financial year, that they were doing it! Lol

A lot of smaller towns up here have called in extra police because they are expecting a massive rise in alcohol sales in the next two weeks...

We are putting half on bills, and half on putting down turf for the kids in the backyard. Damn bills!!!

3/4 of it is going into our holiday savings fund for next year and the rest is going on everyting for Xmas.. presents, fuel for travelling, food ect..

Will make this xmas just that little bit easier without having to worry (too much) about what we spend.. We can sit back and enjoy the holidays without the worry of bills to pay..

It was going to be a new bed for DD, but for now it will cover the last moolah we owe my midwife - and then when we get the rebate from our health fund the little one will get her new bed.

We also have rego etc due by 20th December, great time of year for that huh??!!

Ours is going to pay bills. This time of year sucks for all the bills coming in, you know the power, water, land rates etc.

Going to book us on the boat to Tassie for Easter next year to visit family and friends. The rest will sit in the home loan until the trip when it will be used as spending money.

Ours will be going into savings to help when we are on a single income again when bubba comes. To be honest we'll probably be spending a little bit on buying Olivia a big girl bed in a few months.

Bills here, some for christmas, but unfortunately mostly bills. But it will be a good feeling to finally have some annoying little debts paid off.

If we got it I'd use it for what it was intended, to boost the economy. We are all struggling, and its not going to get any better if we don't help the economy too. So for me its either yeah sure blow $1000 like is wanted, or put it in savings and then struggle for twice as long as the recession continues? I dunno I've always been a bigger picture person.

We are getting our car serviced, safety checked and probably need new tyres as we are driving up to Coffs Harbour after xmas, we will pay whatever bills we have and the rest will going into savings....will come in handy when rego is due later in the year.
