Top Sheets - Am I The Only One Who Doesn't Bother?

I'm always peeved that you can't buy really high thread count fitted sheets on their own and you have to buy them in a set with a top sheet.

Am I the only one who doesn't use top sheets?

Now partly this is laziness on my part and partly it is due to my dodgy back. I find it hard enough to bend down and tuck in the fitted sheet without then faffing around with a top sheet. And wouldn't you need to re-tuck the top sheet each morning when you remake the bed?

I do see that it means your doona stays cleaner but hmmm....

I love top sheets.... now I am far from the domestic goddess, but they feel so nice!
Another reason is because when the littlies wet the bed I prefer to wash a top sheet than the bankets.... doesn't work all the time. If a little bit of wee does get on the blankets I can cover it up with a top sheet and gfo another day without having to wash all the blankets.... oh the joys!

We never use top sheets and I have just found that you can get just fitteds in high thread count. Sheridan do a 1200 thread count fitted but is a bit pricey....David Jones stock them....Still they work out a lot cheaper than the equivalent sheet set where the flat sheet has literally never been used!!

Other brands do them as well but you have to order them...i searched a few of the sheet makers site found out who does them and then ordered them through our local bedding store that stocks that brand.

We bought a pack from target last week- 1000 count fitted sheet and two pillow cases- no fitted sheet WHOOT! $69 - CHEAP!

They are out there- just hard to find- i reckon i have enough flat sheets that i have never even used to bed a 3rd world country- every now and again go and give them to a charirty anayway!

$69 for 1000 thread count! I just paid $300 for 1000 thread count sheet set

I don't like to use a top sheet, but dh does. So to compromise, he gets a top sheet, and I get to use any quilt cover I like He doesn't like the girly ones, so they're the ones that go on the bed!

I use them for guests I think it's nice to stay somewhere and slip into a fresh bed with a nice comfy sheet set
For my own bed though, nope. It ended up folded along the head of the bed, under my top half so that Ashtons spew and milk everywhere could be cleaned with removing one sheet, and not having to unmake the whole bed before the end of the fortnight when I usually do a sheet change lol

I dont use them either. Just makes the bed more difficult to make. When i change the fitted sheet I change the doona cover. I also like this as thaen I have a change in doona cover.

Like Mel, I do put them on guest beds though

I use them - I like to have something over me and there's no way I could sleep under a doona in summer. Also You can't get a doona nice and tight like a top sheet.

I don't use a top sheet either, I hate making the bed with the top sheet.

The only time I use a top sheet is when its a hot night, other than that top sheets really annoy me cause I always get tangled up in them.

If we have guests I give them the option of having a top sheet but very few people we know use top sheets

We don't have one on the bed, I get tangled in it and hubby just doesn't like them. I also have the Target 1000 count sets which were just fitted sheet and 2 pillow cases.

Ugh, I can't stand top sheets!! I'm so glad to finally discover I'm not the only one who simply doesn't bother with them! My mum always thought I was a complete freak for ripping off topsheets as soon as she put fresh linen on my bed.

DH isn't a big fan of them either, when we got together I was flat-out convincing him he needed a fitted sheet and a pillowcase, he was so used to the bachelor life of sleeping on a bare mattress with a stained pillow!! But he soon came around (he has a big streak of clean-freak in him, just couldn't be bothered keeping a nice bed when he had nobody to share it with), although he doesn't care much for top sheets.

I still sleep under a winter-weight doona even in the hottest days of summer, and I live in Queensland where by rights I should be sleeping in a bathtub filled with ice! I just need something to cover me and a sheet or light blanket is far too light and flimsy, I end up getting tangled and feel like I'm still naked (even though I sleep fully clothed).

We bought VUE sheets recently from Myer. They were very high thread count so just beautiful to sleep on Of course the top sheet is folded up in the cupboard because we don't use a top sheet. We both can't stand top sheets. It annoys me too!! I don't want that one in the packet, just the bottom one!
