What should i get her next?

Bianca seems to be over her bouncer - hates going in it - so instead she will lay under on of those playmat gym things - she is just starting to get into it however she is not over thrilled with it - she is also getting to that stage where i cant leave the room without her screaming and i have to sit with her and play with her constantly!
Is there anything else i can get her that will entertain her for a while?
i was thinking maybe a jumparoo???

I'm not quite sure what a jumparoo is....but if its like a jolly jumper, they can't use them until 4 months old and even then it depends on how well they can hold their heads up.

sorry thats what i was talking about - dont know where i got the name jumparoo from!
B holds her head up all the time - has been for awhile now - according to Pead she is very strong - is very stong in the legs too - i know right now she is prob too small for one, but im going nuts sitting with her entertaining her all day!!!

Can you put her in a sling and carry her with you when you need to do something? Eventually she will be more independent and you won't need to carry her around as much....She's still only very little and those jumparoo things are for older babies like Mabello said.

What about one of those fisher and price swinging seats they sit in that plays music? would she like that? and they rock back and forth?

have you got a sling or baby carrier? I have one (well a few actually!) and Eva loves just being carried around in it while I do things! She gets to look all around, and at the same time she feels safe cos shes with me

She is really too young for the jolly jumper. Let her enjoy being a tiny bub for a bit longer.

The sling idea is a great one! Then she can feel nice and close to you and you can still get things done around the house.

And the swing idea is also fantastic. You can even put newborns in the swing so her size is not a problem. I picked up a fantastic 2nd hand swing for $20 off ebay!

Our jumping joey (like the jolly jumper, INFA brand) takes from 3 months, DS was using it at 3 months & loves it.

We also have the leapfrog excersaucer thing-a-ma-jig (dont know what its called sorry) it has a seat & all around it is different toys/activities, the chair turns so they can access all areas & they can also use their legs bouncing themselves up & down. I put DS in it for the first probably a month ago & he loves it. I also take it into the bathroom while I shower etc.

It folds down & has a handle so you can take it places with you, like friends houses etc.

Our was DD's & we simply cleaned it over with disinfectant & took the seat part out, threw that in the washing machine & its come up brand new. Money very well spent on this item!

Good luck, its hard when they're so little but getting bored easily.

As good a idea as a sling sounds i cant be carrying her around all day either - i dont have the best back and she is only going to get heavier - she is so clingy at the mo to im worried that will just make her more clingy!

Im also going to check out one of those fisher and price swings - i think she might like one of them!

I dont want her to grow up too fast but she gets so bored easily, she needs new things

You can actually use a Jolly Jumper from 3 months of age (I have the instruction manual which confirms this in my hand as I type this). As long as your bub has good neck control then it is OK to use. My DS1 went in his at 3 months of age and he loved it . I used an exersauser (like DanielleM has described) for DS2 and it was wonderful.

And the clingy thing is a good (but annoying!) thing - it means she has bonded well with you and its not going to go away any time soon (sorry to tell you!) Darlie only really grew out of it at around 18mths...

Thanks Trish - good to hear u can use them from 3mths! B isnt ur typical baby that is happy just to lay on the floor or in bouncer she needs more - so im glad to hear that you DS loved the jumper!

Sneaky - dont get me wrong i absolutly LOVE her being clingy - it makes me feel good - exspecially now when someone else is holding her she always looks for me! but 18mths?!?! oh my........

jolly jumper are great, however you will probably find that at 3 months they need to be sat with to play in it to start with (they dont know what to do), also i wouldnt walk away when they are in it either, just for safety reasons, so i dont know if that will give you much of a chance to get a break, also MJ would only stay in hers for 10mins max to begin with...

MJ went through a very clingy stage like that and i ended up moving a rug around the house with me, she would have some nappy off time kicking on a waterproof mat while i was in the kitchen...
when i was in the laundry she sat in the laundry basket with a toy or two and to make it really interesting i would put her in the basket in the lounge and then pull her (making a train noise) into the laundry, where she would sit and play well after that.
when folding washing, i would give (and still do) her a pile of socks, they have differnt textures and colours and of course it is something that you are doing, so it is all the more exciting.
In the kitchen i would give her a scraper or a sieve or something similar and let her play with that.

Sammiejane - oh my gosh sounds like i got many loooong days ahead of me! u must be so exhausted come the end of the day!!!
Funny u shld mention the wash basket thing! i had Bianca sitting in the wash basket today - she loved it until...... i left the room - than the novelty wore off!
Atm i carry her around in her bouncer from room to room or when im outside doing the washing thats the only time she is really happy in her bouncer is when im outside doing the washing! I give her nakey time on the play mat also she loves it - and i also get her bath out and sit her in it and play with her toys in front of telly!
its all so full on tho! cant wait for her to be able to play by herself - even if it is just for a little while!

Your DD sounds a lot like my DS1! He was never content to just lie around, he wanted to be up and into things from a VERY early age LOL! He had awesome neck control at that age, he was very determined.

It's up to you if you want a Jolly Jumper or exersaucer! The upside of a Jolly Jumper is that it doesn't take up much room and you can bring it into any room that you are in. I used to hang ours in the kitchen doorway while cooking, it was fantastic! The exersaucer for DS2 was also great, I could plonk him in it and leave the room to go to the toilet in peace for a minute (he was SUPER clingy). The downside is that it takes up HEAPS of space, so you need to think about where you would store it when she grows out of it. Ours is still in our bedroom , I won't get rid of it until we've had bub #3!

DS2 was the original velcro baby, he got better once he could crawl around and follow me if he wanted to. He's still a bit clingy now, but not as intense as in the early days. He's now 14 months old

I have both but if I were to chose one or the other I wouldn't hesitate & would get the excersaucer. So much more entertaining & more to do!

I got mine from Target, I'm pretty sure they still sell them there. I dont know what styles your babies galore store has but if you can try to compare them before you grab one. Our local babies galore only had one & I thought the leapfrog one was so much better IMO (2 of the girls in my mothers group also have the leapfrog one, I think they're quite popular). They are a bit more expensive than other brands though.

Danielle - the ones at babies galore is called the Evenflo Smart Steps Exersaucer for &279.95!!!! or there is the Evenflo Exersaucer for $119.00 - so yep i think i will check out Target - and see what the Leapfrog one is like. Thanks heaps for ur help

Trish - im so glad im not the only one with a active bub - she even likes to be held standing up when on ur lap - she will NOT sit down on ur lap at all - like i said very strong legs!!!! thanks very much for ur help and advice - i will go shopping this week and actually look at all these things instead of just pics on the net! hehehe

I would personally be careful about jolly jumpers. When I was doing anti-natal classes the occupational therapist said that they are actually bad for muscle development much the same as baby walkers as babies don't yet have the strength to support their body weight and they are dangerous in that door frames can break etc. They are also on the Choice '10 things not to buy your child list'. The swing sounds like a good idea though. Olive loves her play mat as long as we add different toys to it that make noises etc which is great. IMO it might be worth doing a bit more research about the jolly jumper though.
