Just thinking ahead to cushion the blow of 'another possible failed cycle'...
FS said that I have 3 small fibriods in my uterius, because they are under 1cm, so they shouldn't cause any problems. The only concern is one of them is just on the lining of the unterius which potentially could affect implantation. FS said if this cycle is not successful, we will look into this and sort it out.
So say if he means to 'get rid of the one causing trouble', does it mean he is going to do a lap? Haven't had any experience on this and have any of your girls had similar thing? How do they do the procedure and what's the outcome?
Hi, I had a large fibroid removed in 2004. It was 12cm long and took up the whole of the anterior wall of my uterus. The scar ran from theh top of my uterus to the bottom (ive seen the photos!).
I was single @ the time, and had the surgery b/c of the clinical signs I was getting (essentially similar to a 14week pregnancy apparently in terms of bouncing on the bladder etc). I had it removed laparoscopically, they made the three holes, popped a sterile sandwich bag (well maybe NOT a sandwich bag) in, cut up the fibroid, put it in the bag, and pulled it out of a hole they made at the top of my vagina.
I had a bub following IVF last March, but it was never suggested that my failure to conceive naturally was b/c of my fibroid history (in fact they thought I had a smaller one still there anyway). With me it was age-related.
I would very VERY surprised if they put you through surgery to remove tiny fibroids, unless they thought they might grow aggressively?
I have also had a Myomectomy. I had about 7 removed, the largest alien being 12cm - yup not a typo. I was lucky enough to have one of the top lap guys do it. He did warn me due to the size he may have to cut me, but thankgoodness the genius that he is..did it all laprascopically.
Drbeee described it perfectly.
I had a few bladder complications which kept me in hospital for 5 days, instead of the normal 1-2..but that was due to the size of what was removed and happily paid the price rather then being cut.
He did warn me that he left a few tiny ones behind because he felt that my uterus had enough trauma for one day and felt that they wouldn't cause problems.
I actually had an U/S the other day to check on them and there was 8, can u believe it. All small and shouldnt interfere with implant..well so they say..
Thanks Ms Pink and drbeee for your information, I thought I'd give you an update on my fibriods issue...
Went to see FS to discuss this, the one on the uterine cavity is actually 7mm, so not very big. He suggested me do a sono / pelvic u/s just to see how much it is protruding into the cavity wall and whether it is surgically removable, because it is not very big, there is a chance that even he did the laparoscopy he might not be able to see it. So I did the test, which they insert a tube to inject dye to see it clearer on u/s, sounds horrible but it feels like a papsmear, any chance of getting out of a surgery I go for it, turn out its worth it. The Dr. who did the u/s said it wasn't as bad as it looked, not even completely into the uterine wall.
Thereafter, I had a chat with FS saying that I'd like to try for another cycle or two before jumping into surgery. He is happy about it, because after all, he is not 100% sure it is the cause of the failed cycles, the only reason he suggested is to 'clear all the potential obstacles preventing from getting PG'. I guess I am willing to take this risk and see how i go at least for a few months.
Thank you so much for your help on this girls, drbeee, I am so glad that you since had a baby after that, what a great result. Ms.Pink, hanging in there, lets do this together my friend. I might take up your offer on Antagonist cycle questions once I started....
