I have a little problem that I hope one of you lovely ladies can help me with.
This last week, when I have done my washing, and go to hang it up, some of my t-shirts really STINK!!!! It is only in the armpit, and it is a really strong old sweat smell. I thought I get even with DH (he is always shoving clothes under my nose to see if they are still wearable - it is soooo gross), and got him to smell just the front of the shirt, which was ok, and then I got him to smell the armpit. He nearly spewed.
The weird thing is that I don't think that I smell. I put on deodorant (like most civilised people), and shower every night, and have even had a bit of a sniff of my armpit before I get in the shower, and its not too bad.
It's weird too - they are all different types of shirts, different brands etc. I could kind of understand if they were all the same brand, coz my sister had one shirt that really held on to the cigarette smell when she smoked, and none of her other clothes stank, it was just that one shirt.
Anyway, I asked mum, and she said to soak them in vinegar, which I have, but there is still a bit of a smell to them.
So, oh wonderful wise women - please help me to get rid of the stink!!!
Hi.
Try soaking in bucket, hot water with Greencare everyday soaker(i know coles sell it) (i think its made mostly from washing soda, so if you can find that by itself it might be cheaper). It removes the grease (so all the body oils that leave the smell). I also make a paste and use an old toothbrush to scrub into the armpits (cause thats where the smell and deo stains most) and leave it overnight before washing it the next day.
I get that problem, but I am a sweaty person. Some tops just seem to smell up more than others. I have found there is very little I could do. I tried piling bi-carb on the area and dousing with lemon juice. Spraying, then soaking. Scrubbing with sard wonder soap, then soaking. It helps for a short while, but then all it takes is for me to get hot and out it all comes. In the end I threw them, as it was just stressful to wear them in case I went somewhere that had the heating turned up.
Now I make sure that I spray the arm pits every wash, even if they do not smell like they need it and make sure I do not put them in the drier, just in case they are smelly and it sets the smell.
Lavender, or Eucy oil. Put a few drops in the wash and a few drops with some water in the fab softener dispenser in the middle of the agitator.
Works a treat for stinky nappies...sure it will work for teeshirts! lol
