Lately I know a few people that have been raving about a brand, I may be completely wrong and I will check but possibly could be OPI? I'll find out for you but the reviews have all been brilliant.

Yep, OPI is great, but TBH, I really find that the only way to make a nail polish last any sort of distance is to use a top coat. I know it's a pain, but I just do my nails while I'm reading in bed, and then when they're semi-dry I turn off the light and go to sleep! Only way to do it with a toddler![]()
ETA That Revlon one that Kellie is talking about is really good too.
Revlon are I think the best, I have the standard revlon silver on my toenails without a top coat now for about 3 weeks, no chipping.
When applying the polish, flick it under the edge of the nails which really helps. And use 2 thin coats instead of a single thick coat.
Definitely two thin coats!
I'm with everyone else, Revlon is pretty good if you're not looking to spend a fortune on nail polish... I just use their regular shades, two/three thin coats, and when you do the first coat it really helps to just go along the tip of your fingernail (like almost underneath, iykwim), it 'seals' it to your nail and makes it less prone to chipping (but make sure you do it with the first coat so you can smooth it out, if you do it on your last coat you end up with a big chunk of it along the tip of your nail!).
I never use top coats unless I'm doing french tips, just to 'bond' the two together so the tip doesn't chip off. I'm too lazy heheh
OPI is also really good, they have some pretty unreal colours available too. I've also heard good things about Bloom nail polishes. HTH![]()
Kel - you are absolutely right
OPI... hands down - there is no competition!
My GF has worked as a rep fpr years... lucky me, I have an abundance of colours... everything they make is exceptional quality.
I would still recommend that you use the base & top coats... but I have on occasion forgotten to use the top coat if I'm in a hurry or I've run out... and it still will last you weeks
I have NEVER had to take the polish off because its chipped with OPI - have always had to re paint because my nails have grown and it looks really unattractive
To give you an example - I was painting my toes 4 weeks ago... and 16yr old BIL was mucking around saying he was going to paint his toes bright pink
He was being smart & annoying so I said to him 'come on then, I'l paint them for you'.... he agreed, saying 'Ok, it'll come off in a few days anyway....'
Hhhmmm... I painted them, and its still on there!
He's tried to pick it off, but its not coming.... bwahahahahaaa!!!
I'll have to take it off this weekend when I re-do mine
The polish is fairly pricey (I think compared to other brands... I'm not sure, I can't remember the last time I bought a different brand) - but it will last you forever.
The quick dry top coat is fantastic - and they have a base coat both for acrylic & for natural nails.
I should get a job doing sales for them after re-reading this post![]()
I would second that the OPI quick dry top coat is the best![]()
I'd have to agree with the others and say OPI although I really love Essie too.
They're both somewhat expensive here in Australia but I order both of them from a website back home and it works out to about $3USD per bottle including shipping (depending on the exchange rate of course) which is WAY cheaper than here.
I also buy an OPI quick dry product which may be what the others are talking about: it comes with a dropper and you just drop one little blob of product onto each nail. Not sure how they do it but your nails are completely dry in record time. Love it.
OPI is defn the best.....around $15-20 a bottle. Worth every cent.
Colours are great too. No matter what brand of polish im wearing, i always, always put OPI base coat on first, then polish, then OPI top coat......i can get 4 weeks outta my toes......![]()
Thanks so much ladies for all your suggestions ......
... Yeh, with a toddler i just struggle to wait for the nailpolish alone to dry so therefore no longer put on a top coat nailpolish
*** Well, looks like OPI is the go ... but what shops stock this brand ?? ... and Do they have metallic colours ?? ***
Cheers from Lorelle![]()
I've only bought it from David Jones, I'm not sure where else you can get it????
