^ It flattens out a fair bit so you won't get a really obvious straight-straight-straight-CURL-CURL-CURL lol
But if you want really tight curls and your hair is dead straight, you will still see a bit of a line where the perm ends and the regrowth starts.
Sounds a bit weird....but I could pull it back with a headband when that happens. What happens when you've had enough of the perm? Do you just have to wait for it to straighten or grow out?

I had my hair permed in august last year.....,i asked for a body wave and got granny ringlets apparently they had to put little curlers in my hair due to the length (half way down my back)....i hated it ...I also had to have it redone 3 days aftewards as most of it dropped out..ive since cut it to my shoulders and i now have tight curl's again ....... next time im gonna ask for the messy perm...I really like the soound of that one

You know, I was wondering the other day if anyone under 50 got perms anymore. I used to get them all the time many years ago. I had perm after perm after perm & it never wrecked my hair. I used to hate straight hair & loved my perms for the first few months anyway. I don't get them done now though as I'm happy with my straight hair these days.

I used to hate it when my hair got to the stage where it was part curly & part dead straight & I could never wait to let it grow out so off to the hairdressers it was again. Unless you are prepared to have regular perms to keep it looking even I wouldn't bother getting one done.

I didn't get one. I am worried about the damage to my hair as I colour my hair a lot. I have blonde foils and also some maganta, which bleaches and colours at the same time. I have the magenta done every 3-4 weeks because it fades so quickly so I don't think my hair could handle all that and a perm.

Annoying as it is to not be able to have the hair we really want, you probably made the right choice. It is very hard on your hair (and finances) to colour and perm and then pay for your cut/style as well!

Yeah, I ended up getting a great new cut so I'm happy.
