And if I really, really wanted to wear a yellow boob tube (can't imagine why I would, but this is hypothetical), why should there be some sort of fashion police to tell me no, not my colour, doesn't suit my body shape, you're not allowed.

Oh my gosh, are yellow boob tubes back in fashion, I can get mine out now, with my big belly I will look mighty fine . I am all for experimenting with clothing and trying to find your style but I am more along the lines of these really short shorts that show cheek and so on. I pointed out a female to DH the other day that had a pair of denim shorts and a loose singlet top on that showed some waist, she had a fantastic body, very sporty and looked great. She siuted that style so nothing wrong with the clothes it was just the right person wearing it.
