getting rid of static in clothes

I used brandname Statique, you can get it at the supermarket. If it's not near the ironing/laundry sprays, it'll be near the undies and stockings. You can get other brands at most underwear shops & places like Myers, DJs etc.

Allow me to add: I've been using this stuff for years, and have always suspected it's the biggest consumer rip off ever. It works, it really really does, but they don't say what the ingredients are in it, and I suspect it's some dead easy thing you could mix up at home for next to nothing.

Does the static spray work all day or do you have to keep reapplying it?

Here's a Diy recipe for anti static spray:

Homemade Anti Static Spray


Making your own anti-static spray is not rocket science. After reading the description below, you will hate yourself for having purchased static guard spray.


You will need three things:


A cup of water
2 table spoons of liquid fabric softener (can use white vinegar)
A spray bottle
Put the water and the liquid softener into the spray bottle and shake well to produce an evenly mixed solution. You now have an anti-static spray ready for use.

adding a couple of clean tennis balls to the dryer softens clothes & the rubber reduces static.

Does the static spray work all day or do you have to keep reapplying it?

No, it pretty much works all day, unless you're in a crazy dry/static environment anyway. You can also get a tiny little bottle to keep handy for static emergencies.

Has anyone tried the softener in water trick? I suspect that recipe spray might not be be fine enough and could leave a spotty residue?

I bought some Statique yesterday from IGA after I dropped DS off and sprayed the hell out of the offending top when I got home. I wore it all day with no static cling! I put it on this morning to do some housework and still no cling! Thanks for the heads up MD.

I can't find that spray locally so till I go into the city, I made the fabric softener water and it's worked for me today, yay!
