I get alot of ingrown hairs on my legs and on my bikini line. I wax and I thought it would calm them down, but they seem to still come back. I also sometimes get lasered and that seems to help a little bit but an expensive way of doing it. Any other suggestions? please help
Have you got those loofah gloves? They work wonders for me! Every 2nd day in the shower and I hardly get one
If I do get one then I have a bottle of ingrow-go that I dab on with a cotton but but be careful where you put it cos it's pretty strong!
You definitely need to exfoliate or loofah! Also there is a fabulous product called Tend Skin that you can put on from immediately after you wax that really works. (You just have to remember to use it ) PM me of you want details or can't get any where you are I would be happy to get some for you and post it to you!
thanx guys I was exfoliating but I read on another health website that it's bad for them. I don't know why. I've tried tend skin but didn't seem to work but maybe I'll give it another go thanx.
i think that some people are just prone to them - I particularly am on the backs of my legs where the clothing rubs when I sit ... apparently wearing stockings/panty hose exacerbates them!
I've tried heaps of stuff, loofaing etc but have found that a body shop scrub works best in the first week after waxing ... I've bought moogoo post-waxing stuff but haven't tried it from the day of waxing yet.
A g/f of mine swears by beta-hydroxy-acids on the bikini line (she gets brazillians) but I've never tried it.
Lozza, ingrown hairs are caused when the hair can't break through the skin, so it grows back in and gets yucky and gross (and kinda cool when you get them out and see how long they are... but maybe thats just me ). It tends to happen more with waxing I find as my hairs grow back a bit thinner so can't get through the skin as easy. Exfoliating when you wax/shave is essential and then every day or 2nd day after to prevent them. I am prone to them on my bikini line OUCH!!!!
If you've got them... exfoliation can REALLY hurt. What I do is use bepanthen, it helps prevent/stop any infection and also softens the skin so you can do some really gentle exfoliation to help it come through the skin. I've never tried anything specific for ingrown hairs though so don't know whether this is the best way to do it.
