Sorry about before. I just can't get the hang of tapatalk, so my messages were a bit scattered

Rouge, how long are you aiming for now?? I've read similar things, but just can't get past how oily it looks. I really should see what it looks like after a week... Hmm

Miss E - I would love to be able to do mine once a week How long is yours? Is it dark?

Yep it is dark, but also really thick so the oilyness doesn't make it look flat iykwim? At the moment it is shoulder length, I did have it long for many years and then went to a bob awhile back, but have always done the once a week thing. For me straightening it is more about smoothing the individual hairs rather than keeping it straight. It does get a few kinks/waves as the days go by, but it doesn't go booffy. There is no way I could wear my hair out just blowdrying it!

ETA: I've been using the Tony and Guy shampoo and conditioner for straightened hair and finding it great. It makes it easier to straighten and I think the hair holds it longer too. Also it's around $15 a bottle which isn't too exxy.

Thanks Miss E! I've sent you a PM too

Yeah mine is quite thin, so once its oily, it really looks terrible and you can see my scalp in some places. Damn thin hair genes!!

Ok so I wash my hair if I'm leaving the house (and I haven't washed it the day before).
I have oily hair, but if I'm staying home all week I won't wash it until I'm due to go out somewhere. Sometimes it's 4-5 times a week, sometimes it's once a week. I have REALLY long hair and hairdressers always comment on how healthy it is.

I usually wash my hair every 2nd day, but on the second day I usually have to wear it up or put a headband around it as it just looks like a shiny wet blob - waaay too oily. When I worked I'd wash it 4 out of 5 work days. When I was pregnant I could go 3, maybe 4 days between washes, which was awesome! Occasionally, I'll go a third day if I'm not going out, just to give my hair a bit of a break. I use Head and Shoulders and an organic daily shampoo 50/50 as I also have a dry scalp. After I've had foils, I use a colour last shampoo and can go maybe an extra day between washes for the first couple of weeks as the colour dries my hair out a little. I found an oily hair shampoo makes my hair oilier, as a pp said. I have seriously considered shaving it.... it couldn't possibly grow back any worse....

Aha, I was going to ask how often you all brush your hair too

I wash every 2-3 days, I have awful hair, it's oily up top & frizzy down below. It only really looks good after I've washed it; once I've slept on it , it looks dirty & frizzy. And I hardly ever brush it - when I do it's usually before a wash - because that makes the whole thing even worse.

I used to have beautiful long silky (mostly) straight hair; these days it is a frizzy curly mess
Tried a lot if different brands (including one the was $70 for 500ml!!!)
Holy moly, what was in it? was it good?

My neighbour rang my door bell today and halfway through a conversation with him I remembered I hadn't brushed my hair yet today! LOL! Luckily when I came back inside and checked my hair it didn't look noticeably unbrushed, hehe.

I have frizzy hair too. It's more about the products post wash that you use rather than the ones you use daily. I have a refresher spray in between days, so you only need to use product on the first day and refresh after that. When I use curling product to defrizz my hair I actually end up with better hair after a sleep with the product. (And please if you use product in your hair and sleep in it... protect your pillow with a towel and turf in the morning... or you'll end up with residue on your pillow case... or worse in your pillow which can lead to bacteria and pimples and all sorts of yuckies!)

I wash mine every 2nd day. If I don't it gets quite oily and even if I brush it, it can look like I have stuck my finger in a powerpoint!

SO, after going through this thread yesterday, I am not washing my hair today (day three) - I usually would on a work day but I think I will start trying to stretch it out a bit more.

    What products do you use?

And for those of you who use a dry shampoo, is it good for your scalp? Because I am thinking, you're leaving stuff in there...is that ok?

When I shower but don't wash my hair I just twist it up & keep it as dry as i can, it gets damp around my neck & hairline but dries quick enough.

I'm really low maintenance WRT my hair; maybe if I put more effort in it wouldn't look so yuck

When my hair was long, I found I washed it less, maybe every 4-5 days. Now that it is short I have to wash it every 2-3 days, and by day 3 it is pretty gross and oily.

When I use my GHD hair straightener I find it does get oily quicker and I am usually washing it a day earlier than I normal would.

I use head & shoulders shampoo and conditioner. Ever since I moved to Adelaide 3 yrs ago, I find the lack of humidity makes the dandruff worse

Every 3 to 4 days here (and yes I shower my body every day). My hair is thick and past my shoulders. I do find lately as I need to use my hairdryer more often that I have to wash on the 3rd day rather than the 4th. Sometimes I do use a dry shampoo to get through an extra day, that is if my hair is fine in the morning but I know it will flake at midday. I try to just use a wide tooth (rake) comb as it allows the wave to stay in my hair, otherwise I just use a brush. Don't use any styling product, but I think that needs to change.

I wash mine about once a week. If it gets any longer than that it is a bit feral. My hair doesn't go oily... just looks a dirty colour (I have blonde hair).
My hair is pretty fine, and until recently was halfway down my back. Just cut it to below my shoulders, so might have to wash it a bit more often I don't straighten it, unless I'm going somewhere 'special' so it only gets a blowdry

I'm glad no one took offense to my question asking if people shower in between washes. I read it back just now and got worried people would think I was calling them dirty non-showerers, lol. But I was just genuinely curious about how people kept their hair dry during body showers. I get frustrated when I've straightened my hair then it gets damp when I have a body shower and I have to re-straighten it to get rid of the frizzies. Might have to invest in a shower cap

I haven't read this thread so sorry if it's already been discussed, but I used to have to wash every single day coz of oily roots, but since switching to organic shampoo (I use Sukin) I can get a whole 7 days without washing. Even then it doesn't look oily, but just starts to feel kind of yuk.
Brands I'd used previously are Head and Shoulders and Tresemme. Oh, Sukin eradicated my dandruff problem too!

i like the sound of sukin - might have to give that a go as well!

i usually wash every day. i know it's not great & i've tried a few times to go longer, but i just feel icky all day. now that i'm only working 1 day a week, i do have non-hair washing days but when i was working i just couldn't break the habit. i do have oily roots. the lengths aren't too bad at the moment because it's coloured. if it's my natural colour then it's worse.
