SO, after going through this thread yesterday, I am not washing my hair today (day three) - I usually would on a work day but I think I will start trying to stretch it out a bit more.

I have frizzy hair too. It's more about the products post wash that you use rather than the ones you use daily. I have a refresher spray in between days, so you only need to use product on the first day and refresh after that. When I use curling product to defrizz my hair I actually end up with better hair after a sleep with the product. (And please if you use product in your hair and sleep in it... protect your pillow with a towel and turf in the morning... or you'll end up with residue on your pillow case... or worse in your pillow which can lead to bacteria and pimples and all sorts of yuckies!)
    What products do you use?

And for those of you who use a dry shampoo, is it good for your scalp? Because I am thinking, you're leaving stuff in there...is that ok?

When I shower but don't wash my hair I just twist it up & keep it as dry as i can, it gets damp around my neck & hairline but dries quick enough.

I'm really low maintenance WRT my hair; maybe if I put more effort in it wouldn't look so yuck

I wash mine every second day unless I have something important on two days in a row, then I wash it both days. I love the look and feel of a fresh blow-dry. My hair is naturally straight so it doesnt take long to do. But by the end of the second day my hair is starting to look a bit greasy. I have tried to strech it out to three days but the oil makes my hair stick together and look disgusting. Btw, my hair is dark too.

Im going to try the dry shampoo. Thanks for the tip!

Every 4 or so days. My hair changed while pregnant and Fructis just wasn't doing the job. Since switching to Tresemme I can go a week. lol.
Funny you say that because I changed to Tresemme and I had to wash my hair more often and it made my hair very frizzy and static different for everyone I suppose.

I used to get really oily hair and wash everyday, I now wash twice a week and never feel that it is really oily (not like it used to be every morning), I had to train it though and in the beginning it was horrible! I also have dark hair but mine is very straight naturally.

I used to use conditioner but only on the tips to avoid extra oil on the scalp, now I don't use conditioner at all.

If I'm curling I just use a protective mist (for hot irons etc - but I only use 150 degrees anyway) and then I'll mist with hairspray to set. I can get away with my hair like that for a few days just with finger combing through the curls because of the awesome cut I have. Then if I want to polish it up I just recurl the top layer. Takes me about 5 minutes.

If I am going for full on curls I use a curling product.

I also love delorenzo's anti frizz serum and that is brilliant. I also have volumising sprays etc as well.

I haven't read this thread so sorry if it's already been discussed, but I used to have to wash every single day coz of oily roots, but since switching to organic shampoo (I use Sukin) I can get a whole 7 days without washing. Even then it doesn't look oily, but just starts to feel kind of yuk.
Brands I'd used previously are Head and Shoulders and Tresemme. Oh, Sukin eradicated my dandruff problem too!

LOL Mel. I don't wash the girls hair, at all. Not that A has any but M only gets rinsed and combed in the bath then bicarb and apple cider vinegar every now and then and her hair is beautiful!

i like the sound of sukin - might have to give that a go as well!

i usually wash every day. i know it's not great & i've tried a few times to go longer, but i just feel icky all day. now that i'm only working 1 day a week, i do have non-hair washing days but when i was working i just couldn't break the habit. i do have oily roots. the lengths aren't too bad at the moment because it's coloured. if it's my natural colour then it's worse.

I used to wash once a week, back when I had time to straighten my luxurious long locks. LOL....

Now I try to do it twice a week because I have to use *gasp* product to tame my crazy waves. Usually though I'm lucky to get a shower by myself once a week to actually wash my hair. Just don't ask me how often I shave my legs......................... *shifty eyes*

I use bedhead brand shampoo. They come in gigantic 700ml bottles (with pump tops for convenience!) and cost me $60 for the shampoo and conditioner set. I've had them since I was about 7mths pg. So they last ages. The particular type I use is called 'brunette goddess'. Smells like caramel. Seriously, give that brand a go- I'm sure they'll have a type to suit your hair.

Would chemical straightening be an option? If you still have that lovely natural haircolour and lack of previous chemical processes, it's totally worth the money. Just might take a while to save for but it would solve the problem of having to straighten every day! The product they use is Keratin........... perhaps even a shampoo with that in it would help to keep your hair sleek without a straightening iron.

And that's my bossy advice, which you have no choice but to follow TO THE LETTER. lol. By the way, you are beautiful whether you straighten your hair or not. If you'd like to learn some easy and spunky up-do's, I can boss you around in that aspect too. Yes, I dabbled in a little hairdressing before I knew what I wanted to be when I grew up.

    - Just had to add that the cheaper supermarket brand shampoos will do a better job drying your hair out as they're um.. cheap. lol. There's also the old cheeky trick of a little bit of powder on your palms, run through your hair to soak up any excess oil. Though I'm not sure how that would go on such dark hair... you don't want the 'had a fight with the talcum powder' look..... I might try this one out!

It's very 1940-1950 glamour. Longish with big curls.

I've decided I'm going to go from every four days to once a week. Hair is too long to bother with on work mornings and I'm back to work in under 2 months.

It was every 2 days and it needed it. Then I thought no, twice a week, just tie it back. Then to every four days. Today was day 5 (and I washed this morning) and just starting to look greasy. So I'm going to go to 5 days for the next 3 washes, then jump up to washing on only Saturdays.

However, talc on my hair makes me look grey. I'm old now, so can I still say prematurely grey? But not a good look when I tried it as a teen.

I shaved for the first time in over a year the other day. Legs, underarms etc. Usually epilate instead, so much better for you.

It's not something I've used "regularly"... just on occasion. It doesn't really go on your scalp though... well, not mine... my hair is too thick lol.

I wash my everyday. I dont have much choice in it either. My hair is extremely oily, its disgusting if I miss a day. Im actually pretty envious of those who can go days if not weeks between hair washes.

Hahaha! Me neither. Teenage me (who used to shave my legs every two days, minimum) would be horrified, revolted & probably cry, lol.
