I wash my hair once a week. It's really dry and looks horrible when it's clean - needs a bit of natural oil and like a pp, it looks best a few days after a wash. I also straighten it and the first time I do this after washing it takes about 40mins because it's quite thick etc. Then for the rest of the week I just do a quick touch up for 10 mins every day or so.

olive I totally agree about the colour affecting the dryness - when I was dying dark/red my hair felt awesome and actually had more moisture in it (salon colouring) but now that I'm going lighter with blond foils it is back to being really dry. I put moroccon oil in it after washing, when still wet and I have found that helps. I also put product on my hair before I straighten it (serum) to protect it a little bit more.

Thanks Miss E! I've sent you a PM too

Yeah mine is quite thin, so once its oily, it really looks terrible and you can see my scalp in some places. Damn thin hair genes!!

I usually do mine about every three days. At the moment it's still falling out like crazy after having ds so I'm doing it as little as possible and keeping it tied up cause it's a PITA!!
Mine is dark too so by the third day it starts looking pretty oily and yuck.

I do mine about once a week in winter but more often in winter.
My hair is really long (past my waist) and thick so it is so hard to get dry. The only time I get to wash it is at night and I hate going to bed with wet hair and I don't have the time to dry it.
I gets a bit oily by day 5 but 9 times out of 10 I wear it up any way.
I straighten it for special occasions and love it straightened but it takes so long to do.

I'm trying to aim for 4-5 days. Atm the longest has been 3

I got a large barrel curler so I have been doing that most days. My hair is so much easier to look after since my recent hair cut. I am VERY happy with it.

Ok so I wash my hair if I'm leaving the house (and I haven't washed it the day before).
I have oily hair, but if I'm staying home all week I won't wash it until I'm due to go out somewhere. Sometimes it's 4-5 times a week, sometimes it's once a week. I have REALLY long hair and hairdressers always comment on how healthy it is.

I usually wash my hair every 2nd day, but on the second day I usually have to wear it up or put a headband around it as it just looks like a shiny wet blob - waaay too oily. When I worked I'd wash it 4 out of 5 work days. When I was pregnant I could go 3, maybe 4 days between washes, which was awesome! Occasionally, I'll go a third day if I'm not going out, just to give my hair a bit of a break. I use Head and Shoulders and an organic daily shampoo 50/50 as I also have a dry scalp. After I've had foils, I use a colour last shampoo and can go maybe an extra day between washes for the first couple of weeks as the colour dries my hair out a little. I found an oily hair shampoo makes my hair oilier, as a pp said. I have seriously considered shaving it.... it couldn't possibly grow back any worse....

Well, you've seen my hair Tel.. Long, thick and dark. Naturally curly but like Miss E, I wash, blow-dry and straighten it as a 'production' every 5-7 days and then give it a quick go over each morning before leaving the house. If I wear it naturally curly I'll wash it on the second day as it annoys me, I feel sort of unpolished itms and I want it straight again haha! I think it depends on the products you use too, you have to find the right products for your hair, which is hard as there's soooo many to try, I know, it can get overwhelming! I use mostly Redken Smooth Down products and Moroccan Oil...

Wow, I wash my hair every second day pretty religiously and thought that was the norm. I had no idea that so many people went longer. Perhaps I should try going longer and see how my hair looks...

Just wondering though, when you only wash your hair once a week or so, how often do you shower? Do you wear a shower cap or something, or just tie your hair back? Even on my "off" days when I don't wash my hair I still shower and tie my hair in a sort of half bun, but it still gets damp.

Pretty much wash it everyday, occasionally will leave it 2 days but gets all greasy and disgusting.

LOL! Yes I shower everyday! If I've done my hair I'll wear a shower cap, otherwise just tie it up and try and avoid getting it wet.

I live in the land of no humidity. I wash mine once a week (if I'm not regularly sweaty from the gym) and TBH I reckon it'd do 2 weeks (but that's kinda yuck). When I go south to Sydney I have to wash it much more often.

I thought I had dry hair (since it's curly), until I went dark and then realised it was the colour not my very normal hair. If I straighten it though I do find it gets yucker quicker.

I wash mine on average probably once a week, sometimes less (I can go up to 3 weeks between washes as I don't use product in my hair except for special occasions), and I promise I shower at least once a day! I just scrape it up in a bun/ponytail and bobby pin the stray bits out of the way while I shower, I get a couple of damp patches but they dry on their own by the time I'm walking out the door, sure beats spending an hour blowdrying my hair after washing it every morning! I just take care in the shower to not stick my head directly under the water, I wash right up to the nape of my neck and just splash my face after washing it (instead if sticking my face directly in the stream of water) and that helps keep my hair dry
I hate washing my hair more than once a week, it feels sooo much nicer if I just let it do its own thing with natural oils etc - I'm very lucky to have naturally thick, dead-straight (although that can be more of a curse than a blessing..!) and 'good' hair that doesn't require a lot of maintenance - a quick go-over with the straightening iron when I want to look fancy and that's about it I actually think I comb/brush my hair less often than I wash it!

Glamourcide I'm finding the same with my hair, re combing and brushing. The cut I have is so awesome that a comb through with my fingers and it looks fantastic.
