    Hi Rachel,

Ipl and Spl are a different type of medium to Laser.
They use many different wavelengths of light to be attracted to certain things such as pigment, blood vessels and melanin in hair.
Laser uses 1 direct beam to target what its after.

I havent used SPL or know much about it but would assume it is in the same family as IPL.

IPL is good for treating different concerns as it has the many light waves to pick up different things.

Just wondering do u need to be "hairy" to get laser done? Or can u be shaved?

You shave on the day of treatment
If there is hair showing above the skin you can get burns!

Question Is it safe while TTC

I found this board while searching for info on laser hair removal. I am thinking of getting it done for a long long time now. I really wanna start of with arms, legs/ underarms and if results are good bikini and upper lips.

My only problem is that me and hubby are trying to start a family and as my tech said they will stop the treatment if I am a pregnant to be safe. I feel good about it but I am worried is it safe to get it done when we are trying to have a baby at all.. what if I am pregnant but not aware when I get the treatment????

I already have 2 d & C, and having a baby is our first priority but I have already waited for 2 years now and I realy really want to get it done.

I am in US and my tech has candella machine. Do you all think I should go ahead and get it done?

Hi all, I have been looking all over for information about all this, funny that it is here I have found the most help. I have an appointment tomorrow to work out if this is what I want, this clinic uses Palomar MultiLux Super Intense Pulsed Light for the hair removal. Does anyone know anything about this? Is this also safe to do while breastfeeding? Is it best to express and discard the milk afterwards?

Hi Kelly and all the others who have had this done. What are the results like now, so many months on. Are you happy with the result and are you still hair free. when you say Laser is better, it seems that IPL and SPL falls under laser, so I am confused of which is best and which company to go for.

Has anyone done any more research. It is a lot of money, so want to do it right the first time.
    thanks

SPL is safest, cheapest and newest!

I've been treated since 2007 at hairfree Garden city, their therapist is very gentle and proffessional!! I noticed success straight away on my brazillian now I'm finished with that I'm onto my legs I have had IPL (old fashioned version) before and it stung!!! SPL is quite comfortable I even have a nap while my legs are being done Don't put it off anylonger you won't regret it girls!!! One thing is tho you can't do it while your pregnant or suntanning. the consultation is free so just go and find out the facts, they will do a test zap for you too so you can try before you go ahead. The best thing I liked is you pay as you go, NO UPFRONT costs like all the others. Don't get it done at a beauty joint. Hairfree only do hair which makes them experts.....Having said that I can only vouch for garden city centre tho, they are wonderful!!

There are 2 different types of IPL. The one that I've had was the new one and it didn't heart at all. Not sure how good SPL is as I've seen people who had SPL and they weren't as happy. The place that I used to go to was quiet cheap as well and she used to price match for me too and I'm quiet satisfied with the result.

    bump...

is everyone still happy with their results?
am thinking about getting this done next year once i'm not pregnant...
was wondering, i don't really have the traditional bikini line on top, i can wear bikini's easily and there is no issue, however i am interested in getting the underneath section done, not a brazillian, just the extreme tops of my thighs, where my knickers sit - not sure if i have explained the area properly but hoping you know.... can you get this section done, i don't really have a 'bikini line' on top.

I've been happy with the result of mine so far. Spacially now that it's summer and I don't have to shave, Feels so good.
You should be able to get whatever part of your body done as far as I know as when I had mine done I used to let the lady know which parts I want to be done and which parts I want to leave.
Good luck with your baby and then your IPL

Very interested too. A hair removal place in melbourne Central offers a free patch test... i wonder if that's worth a try. I think it's laser... not sure. I have quite dark hair and fair skin... i wonder what the chances of it working well are?

    trying to contact Vicky_SS

    Vicky_SS..? BellyBelly?
I was wondering if Vicky could recommend a laser hair removal professional in Perth W.A.?? I'm extremely wary and don't want to risk having any damage to my skin or being ripped off or getting poor results.
    Thanks!

    Cool, thanks ladies!

Aurora, good to hear you had such a great experience at ALC. I'm a little worried because I have PCOS and I've heard that can mean that it still grows back? Anyway that is something to discuss with them.

Didispunk, woo hoo on such a great outcome. I'm looking forward to my appointment now!

So when they say it grows back... does that mean a zapped follicle grows back even though it's been treated or that it looks like it does as other follicles grow out? I'm checking out the ALC website now!

ETA: I've just booked a consultation!!!! This Saturday! At Moonee Ponds There's a special on at the moment: $19 per session for upper lip!!! (as opposed to $39 per session).
