alcohol thins out the blood too, so a beer before or after isnt a great idea.

haha wouldnt do it before hand obviously (thinning the blood and all) but one after (even if at the end of the day when the kidlets are in bed) is well derserved IMO.

I remember the girl who did mum's saying that it can hinder the healing.

Have you had it done yet? and how did it go? I'm after getting one on my foot - the kids names (once we've had our 3rd and last bub) and some sort of scrolly pattern.

Quick update

I was semi brave and didn't use the lidocaine. Instead I took 2 paracetamol and 2 ibuprofen an hour before the tattoo. It if worked then I'm glad I took them, because it hurt so bad I thought I was going to be sick, or cry, or both I'm such a wuss! My tattooist says I was right not to use the lidocaine though, because it wears off pretty quick and the pain comes back without the benefit of any endorphins to dull it and is often a lot worse as a result.
