Mac Eyeshadows ... Have you tried them ? ... And What shades/colours ??
Hello all,
When i head into Melbourne Myer every couple to few months i can't help myself popping into the Mac cosmetics area and i just love looking at all the most amazing eyeshadow colours ... and i dream that one day ... just one day i may too be able to afford to buy a palette of 4 eyeshadows (on last enquiry it was a staggering $82)
Well, i think i may NOW be able to achieve that dream as i have a $50 Myer Gift voucher to spend on MYSELF (not DD for a change) to put towards these eyeshadows
My question is Has anyone in BB land tried MAC EYESHADOWS ?? ... Do they wear well ?? ... Any irritations (apart from the price$, LOL) ??
And What are the name/s of the shades/colours that you liked ??
Ahhhh, MAC is the shiz!! I collect MAC eyeshadows whenever I can spare the cash (which, obviously, isn't often!!) but they are truly worth the extra dollars. The quality is amazing, you really only need a little dab and the pigment is so strong, it lasts all day, without that powdery look you get from cheaper shadows... I guess the colours you choose would depend on what shades you usually wear, they have a really extensive range - my personal faves are Electric Eel, Post Haste and the trusty ol' Carbon (I use it for liner as well), they're pretty extreme colours but I love wearing bright things (I wear all black so I make up for it with colourful makeup!!).
You can check out their website before you hit the store to give yourself an idea of what you'll be looking for, the site also has great 'looks' that give you a picture of what it will look like and the names of the products used so you can copy it at home!!
If you're buying from the counter, you can always ask the assistant to help you choose shades that are going to look great and fit in with your day-to-day life, they're invaluable most of the time (although some can get a bit pushy, don't let them sell you bright green and pink shadow if you know you'll never wear it!!)
HTH, but seriously I love MAC shadows and I'd recommend them to anybody, I know you'll be a convert once you get hold of some
I am going to go and splurge on like $400 of really nice MAC makeup (i've been saying this since last Dec i think), as i'm owed like 3 birthday presents, so DH said i could have whatever i wanted.
Is it best to go to a Myer counter and get a makeover to help choose colours? I'm a bit shy and boring on the makeup colour side of thing, and have funny skin, so i want some help. or do they have shops where you can get more help?
^ Ooh, lucky you!! I can only imagine what I'd do with $400 to spend at MAC *daydreams... drooling*
I'm not sure if MAC has any stand-alone stores (I know they definitely don't where I am anyway, I usually order them online or wait for the very rare occasions I get down to Brisbane and go to Myer and DJ's), but the cosmetic girls in department stores are usually old hands at helping you out if you're a bit confused or want to try some new things but aren't sure how to go about it. They can sometimes go to extremes a little though (a friend of mine got a Napoleon makeover one day while we were having 'recreational time' during a school trip and walked out into Queen St mall with bright purple and green eyeshadow and spiky false lashes - she looked awesome, for a night out clubbing, but a bit out of place for 2pm on a weekday!) so if you do go for a makeover, explain to the assistant that you want a look that will fit with daytime, and suggestions for night-suitable looks, iykwim. They are very helpful when it comes to matching shades with your skin, hair and eye colours though so definitely ask advice if you don't feel too confident
As far as prices go, I find that they are generally the same throughout department stores etc, but can vary by a couple of dollars online vs dept stores etc - eg, you can pay $32 for a shadow from the MAC website, but if you buy at Myer you might pay $34 (or you might pay $30), kind of thing... they don't vary by much so it's not that big a deal, I don't think it matters
HTH Have fun splurging!!
