Mobile Haidresser- what would you pay?

my mobile hairdresser charges me $90 for a cut, tint and blowwave. I have really thick hair, so she charges me a bit extra, but I think the normal price is $80

When it comes to mobile hairdressers, whilst I know that there is travel time etc involved, there are no overheads like the salon rent, electricity etc.
You would be using your client's electricity etc so this is why I believe it should be cheaper.

Ladies Style Cut? Probably around $20

Mens Style Cut? $17

Pre-School Cut?$10 - I am shocked at the pries hairdressers charge for this!

Primary Cut? $15

Secondary Cut?$15

"Family Cut Package" - say 2 adults and 2 kids? $40-45

Also what would you pay for a Colour at home? Depends on the length of hair of course - I have med length hair and I would say $50 would be my max

What would you pay for a straight Tint?Not sure on the price of this normally so I'm not sure
What would you pay for a half head of foils????Again, for med length no more than $50

I had a wash in the laundry sink and a cut and blowwave for $50. I only pay $60 at the salon so thought it was a bit expensive seeing as it was my own shampoo, with my head upside down in the sink and I even had to sweep up my hair after she left.

I get my hair colored at a girls home she used to own the salon in town she doesn't have a proper chair or sink but I pay $10 eyebrow wax

$60 for color $80 if I have foils as well, my hair in just above shoulders

I got a cut, color, foils, and eyebrow wax for $110

seeing as the local salan wanted to charge me $90 for straight color I think I get a bargain

Thanks Guys, this is a great help, I really don't want to overcharge, but at the same time make it worthwhile for me.
I would be sweeping up after myself for sure , and using my own professional prouducts too.

What are your thoughts on having to have your head rinsed over the laundary or bathroom sink? Would this bother you at all? I have a shower head i can use, and a portable basin as well, but it can be difficult to set up depending on the person and space in the bathroom or laundry etc.

Hi honey, I'm not sure what area you are working from or if you are looking at servicing your existing clients or branching out into a totally new area of people but I thought I'd let you know my experience.
When I was doing home hair (I would always go to my clients homes) I was only doing clients who requested me directly.
My pricing for cuts was generally around 50-60,a basic tint around 50, 1/2 head hlites 60ish & for a full head around 130. My hlite cost included the toner and all colour prices inc. blowdry/finishing.
For upstyling I work on around 80.
Like I said, I only took on existing clients and people who wanted my skills specifically, not just a quick, cheap home job.
I hope this is some help... Goodluck, I know how hard it can be to balance putting a price on your art and making a living
(oh, and because I was doing my clients hair in their own home they just jumped in the shower to rinse their colours, I always took prof shamp etc)

Thanks Love. Were you working in the city or country just out of curiousity? I love the jumping in the shower idea, I make my mum do that. It actually is the best way of getting it all out really. I would probably suggest that to people that I feel comfortable with asking to do this. You really have to take into consideration the cost of the actual colour product also. I know that the colours that I will be using will cost around $12 a tube, plus then you have the cost of peroxide and bleach etc, and as you say toner, i couldn't live without toner!!! hmm, all food for thought!! thanks again!
