Cailin - make up brushes are so damn expensive. Scary really!!!
Spencer and rutherford bag - You should seriously check out their clearance sales. They have them a couple of times a year. They are usually well under half price. I once bought a small drawstring pouch bag for $25 used it a few times and then sold on ebay for $28!
Thanks Cai, I was just starting to think I was going to be the only one to say that my DH spends lots more on clothes than me. Pre-kids he had a pair of jeans that cost, well, lets just say I could have bought a few pairs for the same price! I just can't spend money on myself (even if I had it to spend LOL). My most expensive item would probably be a winter coat that DH bought for me pre-kids that I think was about $200.
I really need a whole new wardrobe, I have so little that fits atm due to losing weight everywhere bfing except my bbs. But I can't get my head around clothes shopping with 2 boys so I keep putting it off.
a chelsea design suit skirt/jacket/top i bought for a wedding, cost around $500-600 i think.. was a couple years ago now..but i have worn it to 3 different weddings so got mu money's worth there!
a pair of Max Mara sunnies i bought from overseas ~$500 was also a few years ago! but i absolutely LOVE them and wear them all the time!
BUT usually my items range between $40-$120 i refuse to pay more than that for anything unless it's a coat and i KNOW i'll get years of wear out of it! My Jeans i actually buy from Sussans! I LOVE the styles and they have leg lengths too so i don't need to shorten them..last well also!
I bought a coat about 4 years ago for $120 from Sportsgirl. I got it on sale and the full price was $250. It would probably be the most expensive clothing item I own. I wear it all time time in Winter. And my Doc Marten boots that I got in yr 11 to wear to school. Still have them and still in great condition - well worth the $100 I spent on them back then. I dont buy clothes or shoes often though. Most of my clothes come from Target and paces like that. I used to buy all my work clothes from a little Asian shop - cant remember the name of the shop but the clothes were cheap and good.
Mine would be my cashmere/wool coat for $200 and my leather jacket for $250, both pre baby (actually about 6yrs old now!)....pity I was 15kgs lighter in those days!! I can still wear them, but not do up the buttons... I have about three pairs of heels I paid $100-150 for, though I rarely wear them now. I also have heaps of my old clothes stashed away in the hope I might one day fit into them again... I do spend about $150 on joggers about every 12-18 months, but that's it. My wardobe is like yours, Danii...I usually buy so much that I can't justify spending too much on it, though these days, I'm lucky if I have brought myself one thing a month. I haven't really wanted to lately with being in mummy mode- all the spare money is spent on DD!
My expensive items are bags, belts, wallets and sunnies.........
Don't let me near an Oroton shop.
(Although all the Oroton stuff I have is still in perfect condition and I still use it all everyday and it never seems to lose its look, so probably a good investment!)
I have 3 pairs of exy sunnies which are still going strong too....
And shoes.....and boots........I spend a fortune on good shoes.......
This morning I put on my favourite skirt and realised I've had it for nearly 4 years. It was $370 and i've worn it HEAPS!!.... it's made by a small independant designer here in melbourne and is hard to describe but is really cool, doesn't date and always looks funky.
Oh and my BOOB brand b/f tops.... I can't rememebr how much they were, but I remember thinking that they were really expensive.... but again, i've literally worn them til they become clothing vapour.... they've all been downgraded to pj's now.
Ooooo Laura IKWYM re BOOB tops, I still wear mine and I'm no longer BF'ing LOL!
Lucy I wish I could say the same for my O stuff, my wallet died, as did my O handbag. My glasses are the only things that lasted with me! Everyone I know has had such good luck with O lasting... not me unfortunately.
Most expensive thing i have is a black formal dress i just bought which i'm going to wear when i get some glamour photos done. It cost me $260.
I was reading in a magazine the other day though and i saw that someone had made a hair straightener that was fully covered in diamonds. It was worth over $1 million. Each diamond was set in gold. Apparently they wanted the most expensive fashion item at the oscars.
I usually Op Shop for clothes but back when i was working I bought a Laura Ashley deep green duffle coat with hood for a little over $500 and I have worn it every winter since (about 5 winters now) it even fitted me throughout my pregnancies! I adore it and it has worn very well.
Had to nod vigourously at the lost sunglasses!!! I had a pair of Versace ones that i left on the shelf of an Op Shop!!! But we have a nil excess home and contents policy so I claimed them! CGU paid and I went and bought an Oroton pair.
My wardrobe is generally either Op Shop pieces or high end fashion... not a lot in between (90% op Shop mind you!) Oh and I also wear a lot of my MIL's hand-me-downs she has since passed away but i have an amazing collection of 1950's clothes from her!
Oroton is just a brand, like Versace etc... not sure what country. Used to be famous for top quality handbags and wallets... the chain-mail like wallet is an Oroton classic. I personally think their products have gone into decline over the past 10 years... ever since they have branched out. But they still make reasonable quality things... you just have to pay more for something of average quality these days Which is why I prefer buying "vintage" Op Shop clothes.... things were made better in the 50's for example.
Oh and their handbags aren't as good quality either (as they used to be)... the zips are mostly plastic instead of metal and they are lined with crappy fabrics... and the leather outers aren't as durable either
The pieces might be worth a bit for a collector Trace.
So many luxury brands are 'selling out' don't you think? These days real quality is more likely to be discovered in cottage industry designers than the "big" status names.
Ticket price, or what we paid?
I got a pink Italian silk skirt at a sale when I was on holidays in Belfast. Ticket price was
£250, it was reduced (many times) and I paid £30. I think at the time the exchange rate was about 33p/$1, so it cos me about $90.
The most expensive item currently is my Marcs Denim jacket which was $110 and 50% off. I just don't pay lots for fashion very often, and for me $110 is lots.
