    Scars

I received a 1 cm cut to the face about 7 weeks ago, my son through a toy and I happened to be in the firing line. It did'nt require stitches and was held together with steristrips. It has healed up but I am really worried about the scarring. Has any-one got any advice about what to apply to it to help minimize the final result and what has worked for them.
    Thanks

A girlfriend of mine cut her face in a car accident and put bio oil on her cuts, you can't see any scars or marks now, her face is perfect. I think the trick is to get onto it asap whilst it's in the early stages of healing, don't give it a chance to scar....

I had 7 stitches in my forehead, 6 in my side and 20 in my leg after walking through a glass door this was about 4 years ago! Anyway, once it had healed I used micropore tape - it is a browny colour and it yes it looks funny, however it is the best stuff for healing scars anywhere. You can easily get it at any chemist and it isn't too expensive. I really didn't use it for long enough but even so my scar on my forehead faded heaps and you can hardly see it. I also know somebody who had a tummy tuck and a boob job and she barely has a scar because she was religious with putting the tape on for 3-6 mths every day after her surgery so that it would help it heal.

I strongly recommend it - and also recommend bio-oil for the times you might go out and don't want to wear the tape on your face. If you are in a sunny climate I also recommend putting sunscreen on every day because getting your scar burnt will only make it worse.
    Good luck with it all.
