As the sister of a hairdresser and former trainee of hers I have some tips.
1. PPS has great styling products but the shampoo & conditioner tended to dry my hair out with extended use.
2. the only cure for dry brittle or split ends is to cut them. The pantene ads are not true and conditioner can't undo damage.
3. If you heat style (especially straighteners and curling irons) always use a heat protective product first. Never skip it. And use a treatment at least once a month.
4.If you colour your hair (the lighter the shade the more peroxide and potential damage) use treatment more often.
5. Never brush hair when wet, it will break. Dry brush before washing to avoid tangles. Afro comb only once wet. If you have waves, never brush dry hair or it will '****'.
I think that's about it. These were the golden rules as taught to me and my hair is almost to my waist, coloured and heat styled semi regularly, and in great condition.
I use Bedhead Brunette Goddess shampoo & conditioner and moroccan oil after each wash. Do invest in the 1L sizes if you can, these save me a lot of cash and last 9 months or so.
