    Wax for the face

    Hi girls!

Has anyone used a home wax like Veet before? How did it turn out for you? I bought the "Veet" warm wax gentle formula suitable for leg, bikini, under arm and face waxing and it's the kind you have to heat up in the microwave or saucepan.
I decided to buy the warm wax this time as I have used the wax strips but they don't seem to work on my upper lip hair (face by the way!) and my eyebrows.

I am hesitant to use it as i'm scared I will burn my face!!!! The instructions are clear so i can't go wrong (hopefully!) but just wanted to ask anyone if they have tried this before? I just think it's better if i can save $$ by not seeing a beautician every 4 weeks...

**** May i just add, that I don't have a moustache or dark hair on my lip! I just don't like even the slightest little blonde hairs (which i have) on my upper lip! It's not womanly!! I think the pain is worth the results haha

I wouldn't use that on my face. I use NADs facial wand - it is designed for the face and it works very well. It comes with wipes, gel that you apply & wax strips to remove it.

really? i saw the wand there in the chemist also but just grabbed this one as it's what the chemist lady recommended to use. i guess i just have to be careful not to burn my face by having it too hot... there is a temp stick that comes with it and you can test the temp of the wax first before applying. it tells you if its too hot to put on your face.
its just i've tried those wax strips and they dont seem to be strong enough to get eventhe tiniest hairs...maybe i've just got lots of hairs i dont know

    Hi Renstar,
I've used both and I find the wand easier to use b/c it is smaller than the sticks and 'glides' on.
Since you've already bought the tub of veet, I'd use that first, but like you said watch the temperature so you don't burn your face and then have bright red skin, rather than a blonde mo!

Hi Renstar...I use the Veet wax on my face and it works just fine...as the others have suggested, just make sure it's not too hot and after I wax, I make sure I use a soothing cream, like an aloe vera gel over the area I've waxed. Apart from making sure the wax is warmish (and not too hot) is to use a spatula that isn't too wide as I find it isn't accurate enough...might be worth buying some paddle pop sticks or something like that if the stick provided is too big

Fran, that's a great idea about the paddle pop sticks! I looked at the spatula and thought "geez, could it be any larger???" hehe

and yes, a soothing cream like moisturiser or aloe gel is great thanks, even vitamin E cream or something... my beatician uses that when i get it done.
i just want to try do it myself now so don't have to spend the money all the time and make appointments as i'm busy.

I dont have any advice on this, just wanted to add that you shouldnt use wax strips meant for legs on your face because the stri comes off and the wax stays on and is VERY difficult to get off LOL (how do I know? Because I made that silly mistake)

Yeah i agree with Ali, i hate those wax strips and wax wands.. they are a pain in the a$$! Sticky residue etc.. YUCK!

I use the nads 'naughty nads bikini wax' in a red container.. I buy it for my eye brows and i have honestly not found a wax to leave the area so smooth. Many other waxes i have tried don't seem to get those annoying little hairs, and i end up having to tweeze anyway.. but this wax is an absolute gem and i can usually do my waxing in 2 mins before heading out or applying make up! Definately one to try... BTW - smells like mango and peaches, i could just about eat it! So divine...

ETA - thought i'd also just mention i use an orange stick... i find tongue compressors and paddle pop sticks far too thick and i can't avoid getting the wax EVERYWHERE.. with the orange stick, i can distrubute exactly where i want and shape brows perfectly.. if i go a bit overboard with wax and get it where i don't want it. i use the pointy end just to tidy the wax up if that makes sense!

Thanks for the advice too Catherine I'll see how this one goes, going to give it a go on the weekend on Sat, that way i can stay home all weekend if something goes terribly wrong with it haha LOL (hope not!) If it is no good, i'll try the one you recommend in red jar. be good to get some practice in before the wedding of course!!!
