    Slow Cookers

    OK Girls
Who can tell me about slow cookers? Are they worth the money? I know that you can cook meat over a long time but what else can you do with them. What can’t you do with them? Who loves them? Who hates them?

I just bought one a month ago so I'm still learning things to do in them but I must say I love my slow cooker! I've done roasts, curries, casseroles so far, I'm sure there is so much more you can do, they are brilliant!

Love it! You can do basically anything and everything in there!

I like that i can put it all on to cook early, and then not have to worry about dinner at the last minute! And the house smells all nice and homely all day.

But it does take some playing around with to work out different temps to use and everything! Check out the slow cooker threads - there are some great recipes in there!

I LOVE it! Best $50 I ever spent.
We use ours mainly for casseroles, curries, roasts and soups so it gets worked alot during winter.
I love that you can put cheap chuck steak in it and it comes out divine.
They're the best thing ever if you've got little kids who are feral by 5pm...but I'm guessing you don't want it for that reason
Great for cooking up bulk amounts to freeze too.

My sister gave me mine after my second baby arrived and it's one of the best presents I've ever got.
I find it's mainly best for winter type cooking but it's good in summer too because it saves me from having to do anything in a hot kitchen.
It's a great money saver because it works a treat with cheap cuts of meat.
It's great when I've got a busy day because I put a curry or casserole on in the morning and get home at night to a cooked meal that smells delicious - there's something very cheery about walking into a home full of yummy cooking smells...

check out the enormous thread we have on the top

We do lamb shanks, roast chooks, casseroles, but I use mine the most for soups. I chuck things in as I go about my day & by the end is a beautiful soup that I haven't had to stand over or stir.
