The decision to 'snip' making me sad

Please change if im posting in wrong area:

I would just like to share that im going through the emotional grieving process in relation in deciding not to having anymore children My dh didnt understand why i was so upset .... i explained to him well i know that it is not economical etc etc but once you have the snip thats it FINAL no turning back and thats just sad. I have two beautiful children one is 9 and the other 12 mths.

Has anyone felt this way as well?

I know how you feel about it being so final. we are not in this possition yet although it has been discussed. Im also very concerned about it being so final. I think my problem is that I do want more children we are preg with baby num 3 and my dp dosnt want anymore. We have jokingly talked about it and I think we are both to young I am 27 he is 25 it wouldnt be completly strange for us in 10 years to have another child ( except for the age difference in kids).
Are you getting it done or your DH?
I wasnt much help but I hope you find a decision that makes you both happy xo

hi: A bit more history on us: im 39yrs in september and DH is 41 soon.... his second marriage my first. I was a single mum for 7 yrs .... so now im in a happy relationship i could have 4 kids (not quite lol). To answer your question he will get the snip .... but he hasn't exactly made an appointment but he is adamant that he doenst want any more kids.

We've just had #4...and whilst there is no more for us, i feel the snip is too final - right now. Its hard to expain...girlfriends and mum have said 'but if your not having any more, why not get the snip'......i feel like its all too fresh for me ATM...its all too final. OUr dr also said he is too young (he is 37 !!!!!!!)......so im just going to get an IUD in the meantime.....theres plenty of time for the 'snip'.

But i do fully understand what you are talking about......its a chapter of your life over, its the pregnancy and baby making days gone forever...its very sad in a way, but yet exciting in another. I guess we're all different. Some people relish this time, love it when this time comes....but for me...well, i cant help feeling a little sad.

yes it is sad but i suppose you are right in saying it a chapter closing and another openening! I wonder what the doctor will tell Dh as he is 40 yrs i wonder whether he will be told he is too young?
I on other hand cant use IUD or the pills as my body doesnt like the extra hormones and grow tumors benign but still not nice!

Im actually getting used to the idea just lol

When I was pg with number 3 we decided 3 was enough. I was going to get my tubes tied but I just felt so incredibly sad about it. I decided not to sign the papers even though Dh didn't want a 4th. I was still in 2 minds. After a few months I was just desperatly wanting another baby. I didn't know why as I never felt like that before

Long story short.. We went on to have number 4 I got my tubes tied this time. I am very happy with my decision now. I think if yu have doubts then you need to think why there are doubts before you go ahead. Like the Previous poster said. It is just so final. I think you have to be very sure that it is what you want..

...good for you. And whos to say you might have a 4th, and be feeling this way again (i.e not wanting to get the snip)....i know for me i would keep going and going and going...(having babies), but i guess finances and sanity tells you at some time.....its time to stop.....

    Good luck!

Thats me.. I knew financially and mentally it was time to stop. If I had the money I would keep having kids. (well 2 more lol) but I am happy now

I still get those urges but then I remember the terrible sleepless nights and I am quickly returned to a sane state of mind

Even though I had my little 2 month old bubba I still grieved for the finality of my DH having his procedure and no more bubbas for me. I know exactly how you feel.
