    Questions on Tubals

I am planning on having a tubal ligation done when I have this baby ( I am having a c/s) Anyways I would like to know about others experiences with them..

How did you find it effected your monthlies afterwards?

    Did you have any pain?

How did you feel mentally afterwards?
as in the finality of it all.

I am quite happy to only have 4 children.. We were going to get this done after our 3rd but I just couldn't go through with it, now I am quite happy to as I know I am happy with 4. it is the amount of children I have always wanted...

Also a vasectomy is out,, my choice I have told DH I would rather he didn't. of course he is pleased about this..

Anyways any advice or experiences you share will be greatly appreciated

I had a Tubal Ligation in January and only just started having my monthlies 2 months ago. I found that There was a little bit of pain for about a month (it felt as if I had cramps and I felt my abdomen was really bloated for about 3 months.) Occasionally now I will have a crampy feeling on my left side but otherwise i feel fantastic.
I was done under a general anaethestic and was quite sick afterwards for three days.
Mentally I underwent a month of total depression as I fought with myself that this was the best thing to do, but I finally convinced myself that it had to be done.

I was the same, I wanted to have it done rather then DH.

thanks for replying. It is good to hear from someone who has had it done and had almost no trouble. As I am having a c/s it will just get done then so I don't have to worry about general or even day surgery...

I know that physically I can't go through another pregnancy and financially we can't either. So I am ok in that area.

I hope my monthlies stay away that long /just a tmi question.. Has your actual period changed as in flow length ect? I understand it will be different for everyone though. I was really out of whack before I fell pregnant this time but before that I was fairly regular and 3-5 day length..

    Recovery Time after Tubal Ligation

    HI Ladies,
I am booked in to have a TL next week and I was just wondering what the recovery was like and whether there are any restrictions on what you can & Cant do (lifting etc) as I have 3 littlies.

Any advise would be very appreciated.!

    Hi Marisa,
I had tubes tied laproscopicaly (spelling) and recovery isnt too bad, you will be told not to lift anything heavier than a couple of kg and washing basket and maybe children but realisticly this is not always possible.
Just take it easy and go at your own pace and you will be fine.
I`ll also just mention I had a reversal last year, at the time of ligation we thought
we were done having babies but things change..
You sound like you have thought really hard about this and I wish you a speedy recovery.

    Thanks Onemore...
I have thought about this and know that it is probably the best thing for us. I am not 100%sure that I really want it done, but with 6 kids already - we cannot really afford to have another. I work full time and look after the 3 little ones while I work. It is so hard trying to be everything and do everything that you want to as a mum aswell as have to work.
Hmm - maybe I will win tatts this week and not have to work - so then I can have another!!!!
