Thumbs up Chocolate Pudding Best Ever Recipe (so easy)!! ... Perfect for cold Winter's day !!

    Hello all,

I had a mad craving for a simple, yummy homemade chocolate pudding last night ... And found this one on a website ... It's soooo nice & yummo ... AND soooo EASY to make (no fuss recipe) !!!!!

I found it's not as sickly sweet as some of the well-known brand pkt brands purchased in the supermarket. And it rose a little higher too than the pkt type

Was just enough sauce without being too much BUT you probably could make more sauce if you wanted to

... The leftovers were even nice the next day (today) heated in the microwave

    *** CHOCOLATE PUDDING ***

    preparation time 15mins

    cooking time 40 -45mins

    preheat oven to 180c

    INGREDIENTS (serves 6)

    Melted butter, to grease dish

    1cup SR flour

    1/2 cup caster sugar

    2Tbs cocoa powder

    1/2cup milk

    50g butter, melted

    1 egg, lightly beaten

... and cream, custard or icecream to serve with

    ** Chocolate Sauce **

    3/4cup, (firmly packed) brown sugar

    2Tbs cocoa powder

    1 & 1/2 cups boiling water

    METHOD ...

Brush a 1.5L (6 cup) capacity ovenproof dish with the melted butter to lightly grease.
Combine flour, caster sugar & cocoa powder in a medium bowl.
Make a well in the centre.
Combine milk, butter & egg in another bowl or jug.
Gradually pour the egg mixture into the flour mixture & stir until well combined.
Pour into the prepared greased dish & use the back of a spoon to smooth the surface.

To make the Chocolate Sauce sift the brown sugar & cocoa powder in a bowl.
Sprinkle over the pudding mixture in the dish.
Gently pour the boiling water over the cocoa mixture.

Bake in oven 40 - 45mins or until cake-like top forms & a skewer inserted halfway into the centre comes out clean.

Set aside for 5mins to cool slightly.

TIPS : I used ordinary margarine instead of butter. I greased the dish with margarine that wasn't melted. I got a bit impatient & didn't sift all of the brown sugar & the sauce still came out great. My oven isn't a hot oven & it only took 40mins to cook. I didn't wait 5mins for it to cool as I like my pudding hot.

    ENJOY

Sounds super yum! I am sure I will make this (mainly for myself since at the moment I'm just wanting so much junk food).

Ohh yummy - I love that you don't need to add actual chocolate to the recipie, because I have always eaten any chocolate in the house first!

That looks like the one I make- almost identical recipe to the one from the central cookery book!

    It's sooo delish.
