I've Got MasterChef's Julie Goodwin's Celebration Cake in the Oven!
I bought this months Womens' Weekly especially for Julie's recipes and am half way through my first one; her Celebration Cake. So far so good... but wow! it's going to be decadent! So far I've used over half a kilo of white chocolate!!! But it's the kind of cake that you don't have to spend ages creaming sugar and butter in this one you melt them together with the chocolate on the stove... then mix in 5 eggs (!) and then the flours. I bought Anchor's special cake flour for this recipe too.
And now it's in the oven! I'm using my heart shaped tins because they are the only ones I have exactly the same size (it's a layer cake). When I finish I'll take a piccy and link
In the recipe it says to use the pulp of 12, that's TWELVE passionfruit for the icing. We'll I'm going to use tinned pulp... I don't think it will make that much difference... this cake is going to be expensive enough as it is!
Ok they are out of the oven and cooled. They are great! They are the first cakes I have ever made (I think) that are perfectly FLAT on top! They aren't rounded on top (so putting the layers together is hard) or sunken (meaning you have to fill in with extra cream). I am very impressed! I'll ice tonight when they are totally cool.
