How long did it take for your cycle to return to normal?

    Hi lovely ladies

I'm hoping your collective wisdom can help.... 2 and a bit weeks ago I started to miscarry naturally at what would have been the 7 week mark - suspected blighted ovum. I only bled for about a week and it was very similar in terms of pain and flow to a heavy AF.

I'm wondering how long it took for others who've been in similar situations for your cycle to return to normal?

Obviously my DH and I feel quite floored emotionally and everything is still emotionally raw, but we are both keen to start trying again, and so I'm wondering how long it will take for my body to get back to normal. Previously my cycles were pretty regular.

This was my first pregnancy, so all very uncharted territory......

Thanks in advance for any light you can shed

    Hi Gerty
So sorry for your loss :-(
It is truly gut wrenchingly horrible.

My first my cycle was back to normal the next month and my second miscarriage was very long winded (bled on and off for nine weeks) and took 4 months to get back to what it was. I had one session of acupuncture and went straight back to normal a couple days after that.

    All the best sweetie x

    Hi Hun,

First off, massive hugs and I am so sorry for your loss

I had a blighted ovum in October... Mine ended in a D&C, I bled like a period for a few days (though it was different in many respects) and then smack on day 28 I got my period again.

We were told to wait one cycle (I guess to make sure everything was back to normal) before trying again. Having said that, both the GP and the hospital Obs who I saw for a follow up said that a lot of people are already pregnant when they go for their six week post-op check so really do whatever we felt comfortable with.

    Go gently hun!

    Sorry for your loss.

My first pregnancy was a missed miscarriage at 13 weeks, I was required to have a D&C.

LIke others I bled similarly to a period and then 28 days later I had my period and I fell pregnant the next cycle.

I'm sorry for your loss hun. It's a horrible thing to go through.

I've had two losses and both times I had a D&C, and then my cycle returned to normal pretty well right away. My first period after the D&C was a bit ouchy and heavier than normal both times if I remember correctly, but it was relatively normal.

    Im sorry for your loss.

I have only had D&Cs with the exception of my first loss at 5w which was like a clotty, heavy period. My cycle returned to normal pretty much straight away after that. Ive always been told to wait at least one cycle and then TTC again. Im sorry youve had the awful experience of a loss.

I'm so sorry for your loss, it's heartbreaking I had a D&C and got my cycle back on the 6 week mark (longest wait ever) and after that it took 3 months to get everything back to normal (cycle went from 30 days to 35 days). So for me it took a while, I hope it's much faster for you!

Hi girls - thanks for sharing your experiences. It really helps to hear what others have experienced. Fingers crossed everything goes back to relative normality in the near future! : )

Sorry to hear about your loss Gerty .

Both m/c's my cycle wasn't affected at all, but that might have been because of the fertility drugs we were on.

    HTH.
