boble - Sorry about the BFN. I'm hoping it was just too early to test.
Em - I just want to give you a great bigI also had a D&C. I had very light bleeding for 2 weeks after that and then AF arrived 3 weeks once that stopped (so 5 weeks after the D&C). I think you can expect AF between 4-6 weeks after a D&C.
It is routine to perform tests on all tissue collected in the procedure. They usually just make sure that it is fetal and placental tissue and that there is no evidence of a molar pregnancy (sorry if I sound insensitively clinical - not sure how else to explain it). I only found out about testing when I asked one of the OBs I work with what happens to a baby after a D&C. My loss was in July and I didn't ask about this until December. I was in such a daze at the time of my m/c.
And I know what you mean about it being a bad dream. I have days where I feel like my pregnancy was a dream. Feel free to vent here. You are among friends who understand.
