Trying to Conceive after Miscarriage/Loss - June 2009

Hi everyone,

I am posting on here for the first time after 2 m/c. The first was very early (in Jan) and the most recent (in May) was a missed m/c found at my 12 week scan (bubs measured 9w6d). Reading through the posts on this forum is really helping me through this devastating time - knowing there are others out there in the same boat going through the same emotions is comforting.

I am hoping to ttc again this month and have been waiting for my hcg levels to go down - have only just gotten a negative test today, 3 and a half weeks after my d&c. As well as testing negative today I have also gotten a fairly strong positive opk - has anyone else had that happen? I've been testing with both pg and opk over the last couple of weeks so know that the opk isn't still picking up hcg.

Praying that it is ovulation and my body is getting back on track!

I know you feel that you are not much help to me in this area (genetic's) but the way i see it we are all trying to achieve the same thing even thou the path we all take to get our much wanted babies is different i feel all the support i need is in here with you all and my family at home yes we have another major challange ahead but if we want a baby that is what we have to do.
DH and i decided weeks ago what we would do if this happened and we got the 1 in 4 chance we would still try to fall pregnant natrually but now until they isolate the gene so they can test the next baby we will not use opk's or temp but we will not stop trying because if i do fall pregnant the test results could be back by the time i reach 11 weeks in time to do the cvs and the odd's are in our favour (75% chance of a healthy baby) and i have fantastic doctors and professor guiles at the fetal medicine unit who will be watching the next baby closely so until then i'm still ttc we also looked into PGD IVF that is where they test the embryo for the disorder before they implant it that is very expensive but it is an option as i just found out that my compo case from a car accident has been settled today and i will now be debt free and have a little spare if we turn to IVF so i am still heart broken i want to give my DH a baby more than anything it will just be a journey that is not going to be easy.

Cherished I was just reading your posts to others and I wanted to say that I think you are a wonderful person- to be able to think of your friends now and help them out, and to even apologise for focusing on yourself at a time like this- such selflessness to me is a sign of a woman who would make, not only a great friend, but also a fantastic mother. I'm not saying that to pressure you into ttc again at all, its just when you said you may not deserve a baby I couldnt imagine anything further from the truth (imho)

Ferals I am so sorry it wasnt good news for you, but good on you for staying positive. A 75% chance is reason to be optimistic, and we will all be praying the odds roll in your favour next time.

My update: U/s showed no rpoc, so yippee no d+c. Uterine lining is 4mm apparently but I have no idea if thats thick or thin! Anyway, bleeding hs stopped so I am just waiting for af and hoping she is a good 4 weeks away so I feel normal again.

ferrals - I'm really pleased to hear that you have direction to move in now even though the news was still hard to hear. I guess, as you posted most recently, you do have a 75% chance of a healthy baby and they are very good stats. Perfect timing regarding the compensation payment. It will go towards making this journey just that little bit easier. :hug: I hope that tomorrow brings you some more peace after a good sleep.

:welcome: mellyw, while I'm very sorry to see you in here and have loads of :hug: for you for your loss, it's good to know that you have already been getting some hope and help through reading this forum. I have found it to be incredibly helpful. From what I've read in here, ovulating is normal for the first 'cycle' after a mc. Rumour has it that conceiving is more likely on the first cycle. I'm not sure where I read that so don't quote me. As you'd have seen, Anila is waiting on her first AF since mc and we're all hoping really badly that she gets that illusive bfp in the next few days. I hope your stay is a short one and that you get your sticky baby soon.

coco - glad you're following flowerchild's advice and pursuing the gyn appointment. After spending so long trying, I hope you find some answers quickly.

cherished - I hope you are taking care of yourself and getting lots of support from those around you.

sunny - hope you don't have AF on the way and that it's implant cramps.

:grouphug: too much sadness happening in this world to go without a good cry and I'm feeling like one myself just now.

AFM - my DH cleaned the kitchen to sparkling this evening while I was out getting a haircut and watching a very young hairdresser waddle around the place around 6 months preg when it wasn't planned... he also ordered my fave thai for dinner so I didn't have to cook... still no AF here and not even any cramping or anything happening now. Incredibly tired, drinking like a camel, peeing like a ... um... hmmm... thing that pees a lot?!!! Anyway, another 6 sleeps to go and I'll test again. Or maybe 5 sleeps.

KM1-i'm happy you don't have to go through a D&C so now it's the waiting game for you waiting to get AF waiting to ov then the tww then waiting to test YUKKKK!!! waiting waiting it's never ending.

ferrals - yes, very lucky! It's a long time since I've been spoilt like that!! I had reminded him during the day that it was the anniversary of when we first got in touch. We went to school together and lost touch for around 10 years then 5 yrs ago he emailed me out of the blue and friendship developed again and around 2 1/2 yrs later we got together. Best thing that's ever happened to me (short of having two gorgeous daughters).

madison, erybery, km1, and anyone else I've missed, hope today is going good for you.

AFM - still no AF or even signs of it. I'm getting quite excited but still holding out til after the weekend to test because I need to get past Sunday. Sunday marks what would be 5wks if I am and that's when I mc last time. Oh! And I took my blood pressure this morning and it's the first time in over 18 months that it's been close to normal!! SO excited! I took it twice to make sure! First time was 117/88 and second was 123/88! normally it's been up around 145/99. Oddly, during preg both time it didn't go up over 120/80. Maybe this is a good sign... ah hell, everything is a good sign tho isn't it?!!

I do have a question though - has anyone had an ectopic pg and, if so, what did it feel like? Have you had a normal pg as well? did it feel different? I'm getting ocasional twinges and kind of stretchy feelings in my right abdomen around hip height and about 2 inches to the left of my hip bone. I had these last time and mc and wondered then if it was an ectopic due to the location of the sensations. Worried about it now but can't get in to see my gp til after my last exam on Tuesday morning. Hope someone can shed some light for me.

Well im out girls. Spotting started this morning with a temp drop. Im feeling very excited about starting a new cycle. Charting has been a big eye opener and i feel a lot more in contol. (if thats possible)

Welcome to MellyW. Very sorry for your losses. I hope you get that beautiful BFP with the loving support of the women in here.

maddison - you fill me with hope! I fell preg so unexpectedly the first two times (yes, I was one of those horribly annoying women - how times have changed!) that I did not notice any of the early signs.

Ferrlas- I think you are being amazingly strong and positive in your decision. I hope the odds fall in your favor and you soon get the beautiful healthy bundle of joy you so long for and deserve.

MellyW- Welcome. I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm glad you are finding the hope and support you need here, it is a great place to be. It took 2 weeks for my HCG to return to 0 after my d&c then I o'ed 2-3 weeks after that, I regularly have a long cycle so It was pretty spot on for me but everyones body is different so you may well be o'ing now.

smallyfryplus- do you think the pain could just be your ovary. Mine hurts for a while after I o as the follicle is busy producing progesterone to support a possible pregnancy. If you get really worried about it you can get a scan but I think it would be too early to feel pain from and ectopic pregnancy from what I've heard but never had one so can't say for definite. Sooo keeping my fingers crossed for your BFP :crossfingers:

Sunny, Maddison -I'm with you girls a/f arrived today bang on time. Quite excited to start a new cycle. Naughty as it is it also means I can have a few drinks at Brisbane Gay Pride on saturday (my fave day of the year) I guess that's the consolation prize for no BFP this month.

sunbeam - thank you so much! I know deep down I'm being paranoid, just can't help it. I guess when comparing a bad cycle with this one, I can't help but find the similarities. You're so right though, too early for ectopic to show with pain. I hadn't considered the option of it being the follicle but that would make sense with the location of the pain.
Glad AF has arrived to put you out of the waiting misery and it's so beautiful to see such a positive outlook. Saturday sounds like it will be loads of fun for you! Years ago I was caught up in the crowd at Sydney mardigras (I had no idea it was on being a country gal visiting some friends for the weekend) and got terrified because of all the crowds... I tend to have panic attacks with crowds. It was a shame because I missed the fun of it. I went with a girlfriend to the Perth one a few years later and we had a ball, her girlfriend was in the parade, I forget why she wasn't...

Massive temp drop today. Still waiting for AF, though. My spotting has gone all light and not there really, which is stupid, just come and let me start a new cycle already!!!

Im feeling surprisingly good for someone coming into AF.. :doh:

I had some mega weird pains last night, like both my ovaries or that general whole region, was throbbing with like a burning feeling almost...Was very very odd, and painful and I was laying there thinking :wtf: is going on!!!! STOP!!! OUCH!!!

I am in a love/hate relationship with my body... I am feeling great because i just got my hair cut/coloured but I feel crap because my reproductive system is not cooperating...EVER.

I just asked my sister to hold my hand when i see the gynae on 22nd (or 25th?) when I ask about options seeing as it's been so long and the only pregnancy has ended in M/C.

Hope you're all doing well, sorry to those who had AF/spotting etc and hoping to see some :bfp: in here soon xx

Hi folks, sorry I didn't stick my head back in here! No BFP for us this month, I got my period on Sunday morning, 13 or 14 DPO. 30 minutes after I POAS too, what a waste of a test!!!!! LOL. I am disappointed, but TBH, relieved that I just KNEW, all that coloured CM from 6DPO was doing my head in. I just wanted to know, one way or the other.

SO, I'll be back in here this month, if that's okay :). Day 5, and counting :p. I will make an effort to read this thread often and get to know you all so I can do proper personals. I see that there are a few of you who have had sad news recently, I'm so sorry, big :hug: for all of you.

Ferals, I know that those are slim odds, and there is alot to consider, but there is still a 75% chance that things will be OK.

Hi to the new ladies, sorry that you had to join us here, and fingers crossed for those in their 2WW. Any news from those at the end of their cycle?

AFM - I am in my "green days" (of course - when DH and I are on different shifts and he has been doing overitme, green days don't come on days off, do they?) Poor DH, was so tired last night, but he was still up for it!! I'm due to ov on Saturday, so we are doing some pre-emtive egg chasing at the moment. Who else will be in the 2WW around the same time as me?

just a quick update one me. ive been feeling so confused and anxious all day. this morning i tested on FMU and fely sure RB woulb be here within the week. after doing the test and not seeing anything i walked out and left it. DH called me back soon after to re-look. this was 7 minutes after testing. there was a VERY faint 2nd line. in my heart I hope its BFP but my head tells me its an early evaporative line. suppose i'll have to test again tomorrow maybe? sorry for the me post, had to unload

Smallfryplus-i got funny crampy pulling pain in my lower right side when i was pregnant with abbi and it turned out that is where the placenta was attached so :crossfingers: it is a BFP for you this month we need some good new's around here.

Maddison-sorry to here your out this month but now that your charting it make's you look forward to waking up every day just to take your temp.

Sunbeam-thank's and i'm am feeling surprisingly confident cause now we know what is ahead of us it make's me determined to be one of the 75% the way im looking at it 100 women get pregnant 75 of those have a healthy baby and 25 have an effected baby so i have a good chance at being one of the 75 the only downside is i have to wait until 12-13 weeks to find out if the baby is affected or not so still a bit of a wait until i can celebrate being pregnant when it happens and if the baby is affected we have to try again if we do the PGD IVF we get to avoid all that as they only put a healthy embryo in but we have decided to try natrually first see how we go what would you do in my situation .

MellyW-hope you catch that egg.

Milly5-thanks for the cyber hugs and my DH and i have the same trouble im fertile when DH is on 12hr night shifts and sleeps all day when im at work and on our days off i'm am not fertile so catching that egg is hard work.

Sunny09-i have never had a evap line i always thought a line was a line regardless of how faint so i hope this is it for you.
