clairesmummy: pcos is poly cystic ovary syndrome, im not good at explaining it so have a look at this link Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) (i hope i have done that right). for me i have irregular periods, acne problems, insulin resistance. i also have high prolactin levels (can be elevated in pcos but mine is higher than that), this tricks the body into thinking it is pregnant so you don't ovulate, it is not known why mine is higher than normal so im on regular medication to keep it low enough for me to ovulate, so i have a number of things going against me, when i was pregnant with my DD i developed a pituitary tumour (on my pituitary gland in my brain) that had a haemorrhage at 30 weeks pregnant (that was fun). i am also on metformin which is a diabetic drug to help manage the insulin resistance. my other issue is i have also had half my thyroid removed a few years ago after a lump was discovered (concern was it was cancer but it was benign). so a fair bit going on, aren't you glad you asked !! lol
