Trying to Conceive after Miscarriage or Loss ~ April 2009

Morning all!

Im still keeping an eye out for signs i didnt ovulate where i thought, if its not one thing its another with TTC huh? Waiting to O, not beliving that we have when it says we have, waiting to temo every day waiting for test days then not beliving the tests whatever the reason is so testing again and again until either result is confirmed :) :lol:

I am wondering if anyone here has had a breast reduction before? Or knows of someone who has? Im getting one to go from 8-G or 10-F to a c or a d cup. Im not too phased about the breast feeding thing because I dont really mind either way (might be selfish).

i had one, I had serious back pain from being way too out of proportion for my body.
I was told breast feeding shouldnt be an issue, I had mine 8 years ago and the scars aren't even noticeably now. I do know that every time I got my period or anything like that I was in SERIOUS pain from the scars streching so consider that time wise...

Sally - yes, it has an LCD display as well as an audio speaker. It is not the cheapest one of its type, but I am really glad I invested in it as it is working really well ;) They also sell them on ebay, but it worked out cheaper to go with the other company due to cheaper postage.

Sally: Do you mind me asking what size you went from and to? You can PM me if you like.
Also how much did you pay and did private health insurance cover anything?

Hi Coco, I don't need a breast reduction but a girl was at my work yesterday talking about getting one... she was a teenager and her mother hadn't really looked into it properly and her daughter was in so much pain she should join a health fund today!

I know some health funds do cover breast reduction. I know mine does and that is even on the lowest hospital cover and you would get to have the operation in a private hospital with the specialist of your choice. Any operation which is medically necessary is covered (the specialist would determine that) and obviously if you have large bb's it is impacting on your health so it is therefore necessary :) I am with AHM on top hospital (to have bubs in a private hospital) from memory the basic hospital cover was not very expensive, only thing is there would be a waiting period (check with the fund what that would be). There may also be an out of pocket expense for the specialist too (depending on who you choose) but only a few hundred I would think. HTH

Re the roller coaster, I am right there with you! I dont' know what my body is doing??? Thought I would see a temp drop on ovulation day but haven't had one, but all my other signs look like I've ovulated :rolleyes:

just a quick one from me for now. thank you to everyone who wished me luck for yesterday. I am glad to say that the tribunal is over. the tribunal member awarded our landlord $160 of his $1800 claim (i think that what it was.. somewhere between $1200 - $1800 i think lol). The only part he could actually claim was about $600 as the rest were costs involve with the tribunal and with tribunal each person has to pay for their own costs if it is below a $10,000 claim... so I am super happy with the outcome. I have paid my ex landlord his $160 and I am hoping that this is the end of it. its funny, at the conciliation hearing I offered $200 so that we wouldn't have to go any further with it and the landlord declined.. so he ended up with even less and the tribunal member basically told him that he was being unreasonable and he should be happy because we left the place in better condition then when he moved out - but he did award him carpet cleaning and 2 days rent.. he didn't award another 2 days rent, water costs and cleaning costs (or the excessive claim for expenses relating to the claim) I was so happy and still am. Finally that stress is out of my life and I can look forward to my bfp and know that i won't have to deal with any more problems from him :dance:

Liz - just wanted to offer you a quick welcome. im so sorry for your losses and it is such a hard time. after my 2nd m/c I had a lot of trouble seeing pregnant people and people with newborns.. but after the last one i seem to be much more at peace with it for some reason - sounds weird! I do still have bad days.. I don't handle AF (or RB :lol: ) very well... when the witch is around I turn into a bit of a witch too :doh: and last AF I felt so much hatred for pregnant people I even said to a work friend that I wish i could take a pin to all those big bloated pregnant bellies just to see if they popped when i pinned them - of course i didn't mean it but i was definitely not handling another month with no bfp very well. :rolleyes: so i know where you are coming from, as do most of the ladies here. I wish you a speedy bfp. *hugs*

But wanted to say - welcome to Liz & sorry for your loss and yay! to Boble for the tribunal hearing to be over and haha to the greedy landlord who should have taken the $200 in the first place!

Still no AF, but I had a look at the last month & AF visited on CD 36, so I am assuming she might come on Sunday (great!) as I have low abdominal cramping. I thought she'd come sooner since I am on meds from the naturopath, but I think my cycles are still being sorted out from the m/c & spotting afterwards. Oh, well I guess she'll ruin my long long weekend..... :(

Jen - I'm with you, who did come up with AF? I am definitely in favour of calling it RB! I completely understand what you mean about demanding an u/s. Although my FS is lovely and said he will send me for one pretty much straight away just to try and ease some of my anxiety. Gee, I really hope none of us have to wait much longer :hug:

Liz - Welcome but so sorry for your losses and that you have to be here at all. But if you are unlucky to be going through it you couldn't be in a better place. I'm sorry I can't help with the clomid question but I'm sure someone will. From memory I think erybery may have conceived using clomid but I'm sure she will see your post and reply. HannahD - :hug:I know it must be so hard but try not to second guess the way you are feeling. I think after all we have been through I don't think any of us can predict the way we may feel when we fall pg again, no matter how much we may want it. Jen, once again, put it so well in her post. And don't feel bad for venting here, we all want to support you anyway we can to help you through your pg. I know you will be here cheering us on when our time comes ;)

Sally - I agree, what your sister said wasn't exactly the best thing to say. My sister has been a bit the same. She has had 3 healthy children and never had a problem falling pg and never suffered any losses. Whilst I am so happy she never had to go through what I am sometimes I get so crabby with her for making insensitive comments - she has no idea but I know she has good intentions and her heart is in the right place.

AFM - Not much to report, still in the TWW and driving myself crazy. Still using maybe baby and Sunday was the only day I had really large distinctive ferns so I think it was definitely o. That was CD16 so hopefully that means I will only have a 30-31 day cycle. Been a bit sad of late, just feeling very impatient. I know this is only the 2nd cycle since my op but it feels like a lifetime. I would like to look at IVF now but DH is resisting as he wants us to try to fall pg naturally for a few months first. I guess that is fair and makes sense. Plus if we tried IVF at the moment and it didn't work I don't think I would cope very well. Just have to keep looking ahead to August and if it happens before then (which I so hope it does) even better!

Thanks for checking the flat temp thing... It is new actually and I have only used it to chart one other cycle in Jan, in fact when I got it I used 2 the thermometers for about a week just to make sure they both said the same thing lol... So I think it's working PLUS today I got a large peak :dance: so I must have o'd somewhere in there..... I'm so happy about it and technically we should get a BFP, I just hope my lining has thickened up enough to hold onto the little one if we do. the tww will drive me insane.

I've gotta ask everyone, at the start of each cycle do you get way ahead of yourself and workout when the due date would be if you get pg in that cycle???? I know some people don't like to get carried away with stuff like that in case they are disappointed but not me :ROFL: I go way out there and beyond imagining everything!!! SOOOOO having said that if I do get pg my due date would be Christmas day (if you take 40 weeks from the D&C) OR it would be New years eve (if you take 38 weeks from O, which I think was on the 9th... will see what ff says?)

I forgot to mention that during my fantastic weekend last week when dh gave me a massage I told him that I hadn't been into the babies room since we found out that we had lost them... So we went in there together and I cried (of course). I had actually taken all of the clothes and nappies etc out of the room because my dad had come to stay and we werent' ready to tell anyone yet; I hadn't had a chance to put it all back before our 1st scan so it has all stayed packed away in another room. DH asked me yesterday if I could put it all back... I asked why and he said becasue he missed it :inlove: awwwww he is so sweet, we used to go in there and look at it all etc... So today we are going to put it back together with excitement that in less than 2 weeks we could be pg again! :crossfingers:

Hi Liz,
I concieved my baby this time using clomid after a natural conception last sept. I was on 50mg and it worked the first time. I have endo and PCOS and had extremely long cycles where I never ovulated. in fact after my m/c in Oct my AF never returned so the Gyn put my on the mini-pill for 7 days twice a day to induce AF so I could start on the clomid. He wanted to make sure I had a cycle to clear the lining. I did not use OPKs but had a day 21 bloodtest that showed I had ovulated, though I was 100% certian I had as I had terrible pain from my right ovary on day 14. My Gyn said if I didnt ovulate the first cycle on 50mg he would up it to 100mg the following cycle.
So I know I havent really answered your question! Maybe you could ring your doc to see what he thinks/recommends? Best wishes for this journey!

Just letting you know, cos I know that you all really want to, that AF or RB whatever the h*ll you want to call her is at my house! So if anyone is looking for her, give her about 4 days and she'll be on her way. I knew she was coming and alas she was my alarm clock this morning (what a gem waking me up!) Anyway, so looks like we are back into DTDing like mad in about 5 days time, mind you I am with you Jen, need to find my mojo! hehe!

Eliza - My cousin had a breast reduction oooooh, lets see years ago - can't even remember when. She had it in a private hospital due to health issues - chronic back pain and I think from memory she was a 10G or something like that and they reduced her to a D cup? I think they only go down so many cup sizes. For instance, you couldn't go from a G cup to an A - IYKWIM? She had some down time but she never complained about pain that I can remember. I think she was just so glad to be free of her back pain. Not sure about the bf issue, but she doesn't have kids.

Cherished - oh, yeah all the time. Obviously since I am not pg this month, I will be due to have my baby in the New Year! haha!
I think setting up the baby's room is really good. I used to be supertiscious about buying and displaying baby stuff, but I think it is better to surround yourself with positive thoughts & things to bring your dreams to reality!

Well, am off to enjoy some of this weekend, even if the sun ain't shining here.

Cherished - You are not alone - I look ahead and imagine things like that all the time. I used to look up my possble due dates but I have stopped myself from doing it the last few months as I felt I was jinxing myself. Although I had a peek this month and if I get my BFP I would be due around the 28th of December! I usually always imagine telling our parents and seeing their reaction as I know they will be so happy and excited. I can't wait for that day. Unfortunately we were keeping TTC a secret when we first started and we hadn't told our parents we were pg before we m/c so we had to tell them all in one go which was pretty devastating for them. They didn't even know we were trying. I know I have rambled on but wanted to know you are perfectly normal and I am kind of gald I am not the only one that tortures myself :rolleyes: Mind you I think it is nice to have hope and look towards the future :)

Jen - You can't rush perfection - that's a lovely way of looking at it and so true :D. Whilst I truly believe that we will hold our forever baby one day sometimes a small part of me worries that it may never happen. I'm just being silly I know, can I blame it on the hormones even though I'm not pg? :lol: How are you doing? Have you made another Dr's appointment yet? I am keen for you to ask them about the blocked tubes!

So much for wheat free/dairy free...we've been in the garden most of the day and have now munched on early easter eggs....very delicious, but so not good! :)

cherished, Rhi and Mel ~ I always look ahead and see when we'd be due! This time would have been about 8 December. I always look at what the gap between our small boy and his new sibling would be and when I'd go on maternity leave!! I've been trying to stop focussing on the details, because I think they are one the of the (many) things that I'm using to put pressure on myself. It's so hard not to think about it, though.

Shortcake ~ we move on 9 May (the day after settlement). We're in the final 4 weeks, and our place is going on the rental list next week so we are madly finishing off all the little things so that we start with a clean slate with the tenants. All the little things we wouldn't have worried about if it was only us staying here! Hope your packing etc is nearly sorted. You move before us, don't you?

Welcome Liz ~ I still have meltdown days. I have had another spectacular few days this week. I think overall they are getting less, but they still strike pretty hard when they come. I can only give you the advice I've been given and that is to be gentle on yourself. Much easier said than done.

Sunny ~ Welcome. Like the others have said, the loss of innocence is something you don't really appreciate until you experience it yourself. I hope your time here is short.

Jen ~ RB is so cool! :clap: So, RB has officially left the building here again. Hopefully (s)he's banished now and doesn't come visiting anyone else!

Anyway, hope Easter Bunny finds you all tomorrow (well, Australian time ~ sorry girls!) We're planning our first big Easter hunt in the morning. Fingers crossed for no rain!

I went as far as to buy the VIP version of ff, that way it figures out for me when my test date, due date, etc. would be. It's cheating, I know, but so much easier than doing the math--math was always my worst subject in school! lol... I used to be really bad.... not only would I try to figure out when my EDD was, but also what the baby's birth sign would be... .I would even check the Chinese calendar each month so that I would "know" if I were having a boy or a girl! Also used to check my lunar calendar each month to see when the moon would be in my sign, as that's supposedly an opportune time to become pg! lol... I used to even go as far as when my temp would start to drop, I would go through the chart gallery looking for other charts with low post-O temps that ended in a BFP! I sincerely hope it's natural, otherwise I'm a freak of nature! :rofl:

Mel--You can ALWAYS blame the hormones! Pg. or not, my hormones fluctuate up and down like a bad yo-yo diet! :rofl: Still no dr's appt.... was hoping I'd get another call about a cancellation, but nothing yet. I guess I should probably call back and at least get one scheduled, then I can still hope for an earlier appt. It just seems like there's never enough time in the day to get everything done! But I know it's important, and I'm very keen on finding out about the possibility of blocked tubes, as well. The boy's are out of school this next week for Spring break, so I actually get a break myself from the school scene! :dance: Should give me a little more space during the day to get the things done that I usually neglect. He didn't come to mine :crying: hehehe na I'm not sad, dh is always supporting my weight loss goal so doesn't buy them for me so I usually get a 'few' for both of us BUT I already ate about 10 - 15 - maybe more??? (I lost count!) mini eggs during the week so I didn't buy any for today.... But I did get up and make a fresh juice and a hot cross bun with cream and cinnamon on it :p

I am so excited that I could be pregnant! Don't really want to eat lots of choccies anyway just in case I am, at least being back on the ttc wagon I consciously think I should eat well too.

Jen you crack me up :lol: Ok so I thought I got carried away but honey you do take the cake (and I mean that with lots of hugs and love) :ROFL: I also think about the star sign and both dh and I were born in Oct so we really wanted our bub in Oct so were so happy our due date was Oct 3rd :( But that wasn't to be.... I did have 2nd and 3rd star sign choices too LOL. When I was pg I also looked at the chinese calander and it said a boy (which I thought it would be anyway) the chinese calander says that I will have a girl if I conceive at anytime between April and November, so it doesn't look like I will have a boy (or 2) based on that. I find them a little weird anyway because some sites say to add a year to your real age and than theirs lunar months to consider??? hmmmmm anyway I'll just be happy to have a baby (or 2).

So I'm all alone today, dh is at work so I might do some more relaxing cause I'm good at it :loveshower:

I have a question......As I am approaching that BD time of the month .... I can't get my chart to display on BB. I went to fertiltyfriend and signed up and I have been putting my temps in but where do I get the link to put in BB ??????????? ( so you can stalk my chart too Jen!).
Finished day 5 of Clomid yesterday so its BD every two nights from here on in....hehe:D
Got the hot flushes today so its a bit blah especially since its muggy already and we are about to start the family rounds for easter.

There are so many posts for me to catch up on!!!! wow....

when you are looking at your chart go to sharing on the left hand side where all your other options are. Thne go to home page set up. At the top you will see Your Charting Home Page Web Address: and then there is a url under that which is essentially a link to your chart. Copy that link and paste it in your signature on BB :p

Im at a very lose end today and this long weekend, had heaps of people over (first time seeing them all) which has been surprisingly depressing not up lifting....

I wish school holidays hadn't started I need the routine at the minute I think.. Leaves me with less time to think about how much I want something I dont have.

CHerished - just wondering how you are charting your cycle without having had a period? Im 6 weeks exactly from D & C today and no sign of AF not even sure if I have 'o'.....
I read someone were your body might show all the signs of 'o' and period but not actually do it and Im wondering if thats what my body might be doing cause ive had wicked period like cramps for 4 days...

Sally Both my ob and gyno told me that at any time of the year (not just after a d&C) woman can have a period without ovulating and you can ovulate without having a period. This has something to do with hormones I think... They assured me that I would most likely ovulate before af was back... So after the spotting went away I just started taking my temp and checking my cm... Firstly I just wanted to make sure that everything was working again ie I 'did' ovulate and than get a period and than we were going to ttc again... BUT as you all know we decided not to wait after looking into it. YAY, I REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY HOPE WE ARE PG AGAIN!!!

Re your cramps, I would check with your dr?

mrzbaby... It does kinda look that way??? do you do opk tests? If you had w or eW cm I would say that you are o'ing... But I am NO expert at all! I've only charted 1.5 charts so far so I really have no idea... Maybe our chart whisperer (Jen) might know :lol:

mrzbaby--:hooray: A new chart to stalk! :dance: I can't tell if you're O'ing without seeing a thermal shift.... you have to have 3 days of elevated temps, so we'll have to watch how it goes for the next few days. I don't see anything for CM on your chart, are you not noticing any or just forgetting to log it? That can be a really good indicator. Sorry to hear the Clomid is giving you hot flashes--does that last throughout the cycle, or stop once you stop taking it?



sally--You can start a chart on ff and base it only on CP and CM, you don't necessarily have to temp. You would just start the chart beginning with the first day of your m/c, and log it as m/c under the "specific" section of your chart. It also allows for you to log your cramps or any other specific symptoms you may be feeling. C'mon, you know you want to give me another chart to stalk! :dance:

Jen: No CM yet but yesterday i had a little bit of brown discharge with a small amount of M(only when i wiped) sorry for TMI but i think that was from the tablets as it can casue break through bleeding. Also the tablets can cause you not to have any CM as it lowers the estrogenlevels which create that?? But i thought i would have had some sort of 'o' pain like I normally do. I am going to go to the chemist tonight and buy a ovulation test kit and we are going to BD tonight just in case.

Jen Awwwwwwwww you aren't a freak of nature! I think everyone does it all at some stage, until they have had enough disappointment I guess... Sooooo, on this freak of nature subject I just did the kinesiology thing and put my wedding band onto sting etc :rofl: It said I was pg with a girl, (not twin boys!), I asked if the fetus was healthy and it said yes, I also asked if there was anything chromosomally wrong and it said no, then I asked if my lining was thick enough to carry the baby and it said yes, and I even asked if she would have brown hair heheheheh. Ironically enough hubby and I used to do it all the time when I was pg and the responses were always really clear and strong and than after about 9 weeks they were inconsistent and weak???? so there might be something in it after all. I'm not really sure if the answers are the truth or if they are just what I believe but either way I'd be happy to know that I honestly believe my next pg will be healthy and great and that my body and or mind believes that my body can carry a healthy baby through pregnancy :dance:

I've had a very productive day cleaning, washing etc and am cooking something new for dinner so I hope it tastes good!

we went up to brissie last night but due to me having a bit of an upset stomach yesterday and again last night (and then just generally not feeling the best this morning either) we decided to come home early. Also, i had a temp drop this morning and panicked that maybe I o'd today or something so wanted to come home so we could BD - :rolleyes: sad hey. I usually have a 35 day cycle so it seems to early for O...... so i guess I will wait to see if my temps rise and stay high for 3 days in which case i did o.. and have therefore missed the boat as when we got home DH couldn't reach climax :( I actually hope that it isn't O so that we have more opportunity this week to bd and get lots of swimmers in there to wait for the eggie.
Just as something to have a little laugh at.. i was explaining to DH that the egg only hangs around for about 24 hours... i told him its like a party in there and if the egg is by itself it goes "bugger this" and leaves - :lol: and thats why we have to make sure there is lots of company in the form of spermies so it hangs around.... he goes.. so you are trying to tell me that inside you is a party??? and I said "exactly" lol. sounds right :)

Just wanted to say that yes.... i also am one of those freaks that work out my due date every month.. if I work off a 35 day cycle then my due date will be the 8th Jan this time around :D fingers crossed that is when my due date will be this time. I am temped to skip out on next month if we dont fall preg this time around.. im not sure how I am going to cope with a due date being so close to our original due date of the 10th feb .... im just not sure. anyone else feel hard to cope knowing that they could be due around that time again and worry that it will all happen again.. i know the worry is already there - but i dunno.. just not sure what i am trying to say.

oh and another thing. my sister in law was chatting with me about the m/c and we were talking about naming the baby.. a friend of hers got very depressed after her m/c and had to get councelling and it wasn't until she had accepted the baby and what had happened, which included naming baby, that she could move on.. im thinking of maybe naming our little ones. I have already named the last one "Hope" because I had such strong hope throughout the whole pregnancy that it would work out - and I am sure it was a girl so i think it is fitting. and I am going to let DH name our first one together.

I always look to see my EDD, probably shouldnt, but can't help it! Noticed my breasts were getting a little sensitive and had cramping today. Thought it might have been my AF, then hoped for something I think deep down im not going to get :cry:

Boble we would love another October baby, I'm not sure I'm happy with a bub being born so close to my sisters b'day in Jan(cause I don't really like her and she would somehow think my childs birthday was her special day!). A girl I know has had 5 abortion! which weren't easy for her but anyway..... On the naming subject, she went to a spiritual healer (not for the baby thing but other stuff) they told her that she had 5 souls hanging around her stomach area and asked her if she had any idea who they might be.... Of course it was the 5 little ones that she had never really been able to get over. In the session the healer cleared the connection and my friend let go of them all which also involved naming each one. Good luck with whatever you decide.

How are we all after the chocolate feast yesterday?

Need some more help please...I went to the chemist last night to buy a OPK test...Well so far there are aboiut 6 to choose from...Which one is best....The pee on a stick one or the spit on the galss one???.....Needless to say I came home empty handed with the conclusion its much easier buying a Pregnancy test than a OPK test:lol:
They ranged from approx $50.00 for three pee on a stick ones to $80.00 for the spit ones.

Any advice would be helpful...

MRZBABY - I got 50 OPK sticks and 50 pregnancy test of ebay for maybe $25...
I also have Maybe Baby (the lick one) and it does work very well for me but lots of people havnet liked it..
Im guess looking at your ticker you dont have the wait time for ordering but those OPK sticks sound WAY too expensive....
