Just wanted to add.....you should still have both ovaries, they are not attached to the tubes as such, so would not have been removed with a tube. You will still release eggs from both ovaries. But it may be alittle harder every second month for the egg to find the tube onthe opposite side. hope i'm making sense, brain a bit foggy.

one of my best friends had her tube removed due to ectopic (as well as many other more severe fertility issues). she fell pregnant naturally... as the others have said it is possible for the egg to travel down the opposite tube in some cases. i would plan for it to take a little longer maybe in case this isnt the case for you - but you do seem to fall preg quickly so hopefully it wont take too long. i think you can have tests to see that both ovaries are producing eggs etc too if you do find it takes a while.

Loula - So sorry to hear your sad story. The doctors did advise me to just have the tube out & be done with it, to avoid any further issues. So I'm glad you said that, but very sorry you have had to endure further losses due to your fallopian tube.

I am hoping things will be easy for us, with DD we werent trying but we were 'naughty' one month & straight after I had a feeling something was going to come from this one 'naughty' night, lol, sure enough.... Then this one we were trying & again it happened in our first month. SO fingers crossed hey?!

It is possible that it might be easier than you think.

I had an ectopic and the tube was removed on one side. I have since had two children, both conceived naturally. The first ovulation was from the side that the tube was removed from for sure as you can tell on the scan I had at 5 weeks. The second I forgot to ask, so I'm not sure.

Please make sure that you request an immediate scan if you discover you are pregnant just to be on the safe side (and at the same time look at the ovaries for curiosities sake) as I was told that I was high risk for an ectopic because I had already had one.

Im glad that you got the point of my post, i didnt want to sound negative or dismissive about you having your tube out but from my experience it has caused me a lot of pain and suffering for not doing it, in my heart i know that we would have had our baby here with us now if action had been taken sooner.

GL with your journey and if you have any concerns TTC then i suggest you go to your GP (in say 6 mths) or have a follow up with the DR who performed the op, and ask for a dye check on the remaining tube? this might give you an idea with what direction to go next?

Remember your cycle may be a little out of wack too as your body has been through so much. Hugs

MM - sweety sorry you are going through this.. I had an ectopic with fallopian tube removed in Dec 05. I fell pg a few months later, only to have an early m/c, and fell pg again for the third time with my DD in Nov 06. I had early scans with my DD to make sure she was in the right place, and I too was told by the sonographer that I O'd from the side with no fallopian tube, so dont be too disheartened, it can happen and Im sure it will happen really quick for you, just take a little time to recover emotionally and physically. I ttc 3 months after the ectopic (only because it took AF that long to return). Sending you lots of special hugs.

Hi, I too had a tube removed after an ectopic, then fell pregnant naturally and ovulated on the side with no tube. (sadly I miscarried) So you can certainly conceive with one tube. I was even told my remaining tube was in bad shape...but I guess it still can work!
