Hi,
Kim wow 4 mths old already it only seems like yesterday you had them. Good to hear you are all doing really well.
Helen- Congrats on twin pg and wishing all the very best.
Hannahfrodoo- Congrats on the birth of your twins. It only gets better.
My boys will be 3 next week and I am amazed at how quick time goes.
-
Thanks Leanne.
Kim-I have a girl who will be 6 in oct and a boy who will be 2 in aug. So when you say the babies know which one you are going to pick up first, does it become an outscream each other contest or what happens?
-
:D Hi Leeane, great to hear from you. How time flys when your having fun  Logan rolled over twice yesterday! He is 6.7kg and Erin now weighs 7.5kg...big girl, gutsy too. Wow, 3 yrs. Well done! I was told it doesn't get easier, just different. I figure when they can feed themselves that has to compensate for them being on the move? What do you think? :dunno:
Hi Helen, we don't have a battle of "me first" yet but I am sure it will happen. The one that seems most upset or distressed gets me first and once I have sorted that one out, I go to the other. I find if they can be near you and see you they tend to calm down a little knowing you are there. They both just have to learn to fit in and they will all get their turn with me..thats how I figure it with 4 children wanting a piece of you. At times it can get a bit draining but it is all so worth it! ;)
Take care all :)
-
Hey Kim,
I think it gets heaps easier as they get older and even better when they start feeding themselves. lol... Personally I think the first 6mths where definatly the hardest.
Kim sounds like your babies are growing up fast before you blink they will be running around.
-
Hi all. I have 4mnth old fraternal B/G twins. Induced at 39wks, natural but long deliveries.( no stitches, yah!) Logan weighed 7lb and 1hr later, Erin weighed 7lb 3oz. I so agree with the shopping centre saga...it is nice to have the bubs acknowledged but sometimes it gets a bit much. Time is so precious! And the q's...are they identical??? One is a boy and one is a girl!! Hello! And they don't even look much alike. I guess people just feel they have to say something
-
Hi all. I am returning after a years absence. I have a 4yr old daughter and 2.5yr old fraternal boy/girl twins. I hope I am able to come on here and chat with you all moreregularly than yearly lol.
Clare

Hi Girls,
Clare- Hi and Welcome my boys are fraternal too (ivf-icsi).
My Boys are 3 on Sunday....:dance::dance:
I remember like it was yesterday the first time I saw them.... 3 years has just gone so quickly.
-
Hi Ladies

:D Hey Clare. Welcome back. Guess you have been a little busy. I have 7yo and 3yo girls and b/g frat twins nearly 5mnths. The twins have started teething :help: How did you survive this stage? They seem to really loose it just when I am getting dinner and it seems impossible sometimes to juggle it all. Got any advice??
Kim
-
Hi Shannon,
Congratulations on your pregnancy! Hope you are feeling well. Got any q's just hit us with them. Take care and chat soon.
Kim
-
Hi Girls,
Hi Shannon and Welcome.
Well my boys turned 3 on Sunday and it was a wonderful day.
Kim- I use to put the boys in their high chairs and try and keep them happy and
cook dinner at the same time. Sorry but I found it hard too. But on the up side it does get better.
-
Woooo, this thread is getting chattey now, which is just lovely. Just wanted to give you an update on things.
Well one of the babies is a definant boy, and the Ob has a feeling the other one is too, bubs rolled away and wasnt interested in sharing.
Eeeek, gotta go, bubs are playing with my bowel. UGH!
-
Thanks Leanne, I have them in rockers during these times at the moment. I just hope Erin doesnt outgrow it before she can sit up , lol, then high chairs it is. Sometimes you really have to tear yourself in 4 and just deal with it huh?!
Helen, sounds like you have active little bubs! Good to hear. They cant hide forever though. ha ha. I so know how you feel with your internal organs getting a beating, it certainly isn't a nice feeling. Great to feel them moving though...always a good sign. Take care.
Chat later all
KIM xxx
-
Yes Kim it is great to feel them moving, I can only imagine the bashing I am going to get later on. Little buster boy kicked big enogh last night for DH to feel a couple so he is pretty excited about that. The thing is once one finished kicking the other one started.lol
-
ha ha. It's really wierd and as time goes on it gets so crowded!!! By the end, I could only feel my little girl because she had pushed my boy into a semi engaged position at 20wks. Erin was under my ribs, even in labour! Logan just settled in to my pelvis and quietly grew. I have now graduated from fortnightly visits to my physio! yah!! All I can say is be sure you get proper abdo and back support for your pg as you increase in size because I have been through hell with repairing myself. It is great when your partner can feel them moving to, although I often felt ill/squirmish when they moved alot. Take care. Kim.
-
Hi Girls,
Well I am sorry to say but I have finally reached the terrible 3's. OMG they are chucking wobblies and just being generaly hummmmm there is just no words to describe it. :wall:
Any way no point me sooking about it. How is everyone going?
-
Oh, Leanne. You poor thing. Here I am having a winge about teething twins!!! I guess at times it is hard to stay positive but chin up mate...they wont be 3 forever??!!! Take care and I hope things pick up for you soon. You are an inspiration to me to have got to 3yrs with twins, and deal with other children too. Mine are only 5mnths old and when I hear from people like you it inspires me. Do you have anyone that may be able to give you a breather from the tantrums for a little while, that might help?? KIM. XXX
-
Thanks Kim. I think they are just going though a stage ATM. I suppose it just seems amplified cause there is 2 of them. How is the teething going for you. For me Xavier was my shocker teether but Jordy was great. Thank God Olivia is a good teether too. OMG 5 months Kim it just seems like yesterday they were born.
Have a great day

Hello Everyone

sarah:)
-
OMG I am having one of those weeks where I am just soooo SCARED!!! I have been costing along quite well emotionally with thise pregnancy and now I think the impact of having 2 at once is getting to me. Did anyone else have this rollercoaster through pregnancy?
-
Oh Helen i can definately relate! I know mine is partially because i know they will be here in 13 weeks and it doesn't seem that far away anymore.
But i think you are going to be amazing you have two beautiful kids that are testament to what a fabulous mum you are and you will be great with these guys too! Just keep reminding yourself all these other twin mums survive  Hope you feel better soon.
-
hey girls i know exactly what you mean. One day i stubbed my toe and i cried for hours like someone had chopped the thinig off your emotions are horrible when pregnant with one let alone two i used to worry how can i share my time and love equally with two, will i be able to cope, how do i make them both feel special... but when they were born it comes naturally and i coped with them both and shared time and love easily. I mean it isnt easy but youll be great.
-
6 months today
Hey all, its been a whole month since I got to chat...just where does the time go? My twins are 6mnths old today!! Wow, I feel so much better than I did over the last 12mnths of my life. Teething...tough times!! But its not forever. Logan is rolling quite fast now...scarey, never stays where you leave him. Erin just wants to sit up, not so keen on rolling, yet. Ha.
I totally understand how you guys that are waiting for the big day are feeling. I went there and it is overwhelming at times. I really feel for you all. As hard as it may get at times, try to focus on positive things...you are very lucky and must be extra special to be given twins. I really believe you are never given anything in life that you can not cope with, you will suprise yourself if you have some faith in your own abilities as a mother. Hope you are all well. Take care and hope to chat soon. Kim :D
-
Hey Leanne, I just have a quick Q if you don't mind helping me out. When you did the feeding solids thing with your twins...did you use the same bowl/spoon or 2 seperate ones? What should I do? Kim.
-
One spoon and one very big bowl!!!
lol
-
:D Hey Odette, Thanx for the advice! I planned to start them on solids this week but the whole family has a nasty bug :( Not nice to have 4 sick kids all at once when you are sick yourself) so it's postponed. Any more advice you have on feeding twins please throw it my way. Much appreciated. Hey, my twins d.o.b was 16th Feb...bubbles d.d. is not far off huh:dance: Hope you are well. Take care. Thanx again. ;)
-
grr and everyone being sick- that is no good
take care hon. Definately wait to everyone- including yourself are better and up for it.
Best advice for introducing solids is a tarp!!! Yep get a tarp and put in on the floor underneath their highchairs before each feed. Trust me it wont take long and food will be flicking everwhere!!
i used to take it outside and hang in on the line and the end of the day and wash it down. When it was warm- i would also take their high chairs outside and HOSE them down!!! only way to get rid of the food!!!
Also make sure you have back up food- they start eating and they are like machines- so have something ready that you can give them quickly if you finish your bowlful and they want more. Custards etc were good for that ! No heating required
Would make up a heap of mashed vegies etc at a time and freeze them so just had to grab a container out and it was enough for both of them. The jars that you buy at the supermarket last you about 3 seconds with two of them. Go for introducing a new food or if you are out, but if i fed mine on jars, it was nothing for them to devour 5 jars of food in one meal $$$$$$
if i was going out i would heat it up and put it in a thermos- kept it nice and warm!
Yep bubbles due on the 18th feb- all great people are born in feb hey!!! My b'day is the 20th of Feb!!!
good luck and have fun!!

Hi Girls,
I hope you don't mind if I join the thread. I'm due to have twins in 5 weeks I already have a 12 year old boy, 7 year old boy and a 2 year old girl. My hubby and myself decided to go for number 4 , I was sooooooooooooooooo sick I could'nt get out of bed and the toilet bowl was my friend. I lost 7 kgs in 7 days and my husband said you need to go to hospital, went in they did an ultrasound and there was 2 little sacs. My husband nearly had a heart attack. So we are having a girl and a boy, we are very ecxcited but also a little scared. I will be asking heaps of questions.
Thnaks
Cathie:D
-
Thanx Odette. Will keep you posted. My girls always got food in strange places so..here we go twofold  Welcome Cathie!!! Congrats on your suprise package. We were going for number 3 and got a boy and girl. (Hubby since had the op- thank God) Hope you are well. Any q's just ask away....Take care. Kim;)
-
Hi, hope you don't mind me butting in! I have what I think might be a silly question - when pg with twins (or more!) do you need to take additional folate? Or Elevit/Blackmores pg tablets?
Thanks, Hez
-
Hi Hez. I was advised yes, especially early and late stages. Fefol was recommended to me..it is a much more concentrated supplement of folic acid and suplhate than most other brands. Most chemists stock it and it was actually cheaper than blackmores (they tend to have small amounts of a lot of vitamins but fefol has a much higher amount of the most important ones you need.) Good Luck! Kim
-
Hi
just letting you know that I am 35 weeks and the twins are growing. I'm feeling fine just really uncomfortable with arms and legs everywhere.
;) Cathie
-
Hi CathyW and Congrats on your twin pg.
-
Hi ladies,
I am 32 weeks pregnant with twins (haven't found out the sex) so thought I would pop in here and introduce myself.
Cathie it will be nice having someone that little bit ahead to give me a heads up. Hope to get to know you all better.
:D
-
well done girls- you are baking your twins so well!!!
Whoo hoo for getting this far!!!
Remember every day inutero is 2 days less in special care!!!!
Hang in there- it is a trying time at this stage- but well worth it- take care and rest as much as you can!!!
Any offers of help you get with your twins are born- grab with both hands! Even if things are going well, still take it- gives you more time to sleep and with your bubbas!
take care
odette
-
;)aww all you girls are doing a wonderful job brewing your twins
best of luk to you all
-
Thanks girls for the welcome!
I am feeling a little panicked though, as I don't have any more appointments now until a growth scan on the 30th of Sep and an appointment with the Ob on the 1st of Oct. Is it just me freaking out, or does that seem like a long time between visits?
Can someone answer what I am sure is a dumb question? - If you have 2 sacs and 2 placentas, does that mean that they are fraternal twins and not identical or can you only tell by the obvious - one of each sex, or a dna test?
Thanks in advance.
Shell
-
Hey shell
my Ob had me on monthly till 28 weeks and then it was suppose to be fortnightly till 36 weeks and then weekly. I didnt get that far and only got to 30 weeks so really not quite sure. Just remember that if something doesnt feel right, or one of the twins isnt moving as much, ring your OB straight away. If you are worried about the gap in betwee, why not ask if you can go in between for the midwives to quickly check you out and have a quick h/b check. No skin off their nose and will make you feel a bit more comfortable. I dont blame you- it does seem like a bit in between appointments at this stage!
There is no such thing as a silly question in here- so fire away anytime!!
With two sacs and two placentas they are called dicormatic, dizygotic twins. Both fraternal and identical twins can have there characteristics- although all fraternal twins are di/di- some ID twins can also be Di/di.
QUOTE:
Dichorionic and diamniotic. These types of identical twins develop 2 separate placentas and 2 separate amniotic sacs (similar to fraternal or non-identical twins). They generally occur if the fertilised egg splits by 3 days after conception.
The only real way to tell is when they are born i.e appearance and sex- if you are unsure you can have DNA testing done- a mouth swab- to check. A free way to get this done is to register with the Australian Twin Register. They were doing a tooth emergence study and for part of the trial, a free DNA was done so that could confirm if they were ID or Fraternal. Otherwise there are plenty of labs that can do it- i think its around $150 each .
Hope this info is helpful
take care and keep on baking!

:dance:Hi shell
My twins are Fraternal a boy and a girl. I started going for weekly appointments from 34 weeks. I'm having a v brith as long as twins a keeps his head down if he moves and goes breech than I'll have to have a c - section.
Cathie
-
Odette - thanks for clearing that up for me. It's a bit hard to tell sometimes which twin is moving as they are both positioned head down with spines out, so are often kicking at each other! Sometimes its hard to tell whos who.
Cathie - I am hoping for a vaginal delivery too, both of mine have been head down for the whole pregnancy pretty much. The last guy who did our ultrasound said that Twin A was closest to the exit! Hope you A Twin keeps his head down and stays close to the exit too. Is there much extra discomfort at 35 weeks, compared to 32?
I have also had a recurring nightmare that when the babies were born I mixed them up and they spent the rest of their lives as the wrong person. I'm guessing that I am not the first one to have had that fear either. Ahhhh my head is going to do me in.
