Hi BD yes 8mths it feels like a big blur it has flown by so quickly. Harper is very good at sleeping if he does wake all he is looking for is his dummy then off he goes to sleep as for Cody I can count on 1 hand how many times he a has sleep through the night he hasn't been well on and off for 3 weeks but lastnight he slept through so fingers crossed he is starting to sleep through. The sleeping patten I have them on is 7pm to 7am and then 9am till 9.30-9.45 then 12.30 till about 2.30 and then a small sleep in the arvo around 4 to 4.30 if they need it so around 3 hrs a day all up.
when Cody wakes through the night I always think has he had enough to eat and drink he is still the little one of the two so I try and make sure he eats and drinks as much as he can but I don't really know if its enough for him, I know he is putting on weight he is finally on the graft little monkey. Harper eats and drinks nearly all of his solids and bottles I use his portions as a guide.
Are you BF? have you started them on solids?
I have also sent you a friend request on FB.
I can't believe they are 4 months my gosh how has everything been going for you.

The boys are so different but when I sit them next to each other they touch and hug and sometimes pull each other over its so cute but when I pick one of them up they other one turns on the puppy dogs eyes and I feel terrible I have to pick them both up obviously sitting down when I do it but lucky for me Cody is smaller so its quite easy to scoop him up with one arm

Hope everyone is doing well xoxox

Ladies - just want to ask your opinion - I know that HCG isn't perfect as an indicator, but I went from 529 at 16 dpo and have just jumped to 1800 and 18 dpo - I am just a wee bit scared it might be twins? - Love to know your thoughts!

Lairdoz wow you just blew my mind!!!! I'm sorry but I haven't the foggiest what your talking about! I am guessing it's hormone levels or something. All I know is when I went to my doc, to tell her I was preg, she said to me "you are VERY pregnant!" I thought that was a very strange thing to say, as I thought either I am pregnant or not! But then found out why I was VERY pregnant at my ultrasound. I never knew about hormone levels or anything like that I'm afraid so can't help you. I do know that I was VERY tired and had terrible morning sickness in those first 3 months.

I can't help with the HCG levels, sorry, but in my twin pregnancy I was utterly exhausted, much more so than in my singletons, and I kept passing out. I also felt movement very early and was quite big, but I didn't have the twins confirmed until my 1st ultrasound at 21 weeks. Hopefully you will know sooner than that

Congratulations on your pregnancy, be it twins or just one

    Hi Lairdoz,
woohoo fir you, I woul say you either have twins or a super strong embie, my hcg level at 15dpo was 206, at 19dpo it was 1200, so I think your numbers work out high than mine lol. Good luck I can't wait for your scan to find out, when is it? Xx

Thanks for your replies ladies - Baby Dreamtime I'm not sure when my scan is yet, I am only 5 weeks on Friday so I guess it won't be for at least a week and a bit. My HCG was 183 at 12dpo, 529 at 14 dpo and 1800 at 18 dpo so would likely be at least 3000 by 19dpo going by my last three tests, so it's scarily higher than your levels. I know it doesn't mean I am having multiples, but just preparing myself incase we see two little flashes on the screen as with a currently 14 month old to look after as well, this is going to be a BIG journey if it is twins!

    Goodluck with the scan Lairdoz.
Well I have been MIA for a LONG time, but it is nice to see the thread moving along again. Twins are growing really fast. Tallulah has some developmental problems, Gabe is such a little boy. We are constantly busy, which is the norm. Will try to catch up with you all when I can.

Yay twins thread is on fire!!!

Lairdoz do let us know how your scan goes won't you, be it single or multiple, would love to know.

Helen I'd be very interested if you have any hints and tips for dealing with 1-2 year olds, mine are turning 1 in 3 weeks time, they are crawling everywhere and only just started to pull themselves up onto things. I'm kinda dreading the walking stage! LOL!!! Or should I say nervous about how the hell I'll cope.

I only get time in the evenings to pop in and check up on here, and I only go into threads I'm subscribed to, or else I get sucked in and end up on here for hours! I don't get any time to do house work in the day anymore, I've given up trying basically. I just go with the flow during the day and when they go to bed, I get out the vacuum and do as much as I can before I think enough is enough! I wonder how everyone else copes with the daily chores, would be interested to hear how you all get stuff done? Anyways, I had two kids home sick with me today, Alex has a cold and put on the I don't want to go to school eyes and yesterday I was worried about Jennifer as she was coughing quite violently and bringing back her milk, it turns out she has Bronchitis, so we had a pj day today, baked some cookies and made some soul warming soup. We had an awfully cold day today, with fog all day, it didn't clear at all, so cookies and soup was just what the doctor ordered (not at the same time).

I hope everyone else is well and chugging along nicely.

BD, thanks for the tip about the tummy control briefs post birth. I must get some of those! I had to buy a maternity bra last week because my boobs have gone up at least one cup size and all my bras have underwire which I've read is no good when you're PG. One of the mags I read said you get a maternity bra and then get fitted for a breastfeeding bra when you're about 7 months. So off I go to the shops and all the maternity bras are breastfeeding bras with the clips and everything! I feel like a cow already! Just call me "Daisy". The only bras in the shop I went in at least that had no underwire but were not maternty bras were like training bras with no support. Anyway, there was a great special on for some quality ones so I bought two

It's great to hear about everyone's experiences with feeding and sleeping twins. I will definitely be asking for advice when I get to that stage because I'm hoping to be able to BF both at the one time and get them into a routine as early as possible. I need my sleep; I go to bed at about 8.30 pm. (I can hear the chuckles already and the comments "You'll never sleep again"). But I am a pretty organised person and really want to get them into a routine for them and for me.

Azzrenae, love that your twins are sleeping from 7 pm to 7 am. How long did it take you to get them to that stage?

Can I also ask you ladies: I went to a Baby Expo last weekend and reuseable nappies are all the go. There must have been about 4 stalls that we saw and we only covered half the room befor getting too tired and leaving. Basically, the concept is you need about 24 for one child, maybe 40 for twins they recommend. Some have minky on outside; some hemp/bamboo and you put plastic type pants over the top. There are liners inside the nappy and basically if wet through (which I think would happen each time) you put it aside, get a new one and off you go. Cost varies but around the $1,000 mark, but these type of nappies can take you through from babies to toddlers apparently. I'm thinking disposables would cost more than that over the years? What are everyone's thoughts?

Lairdoz, it might be mean of me but I hope you are having twins so we can be on this journey together! If it helps, my Hcg level was 3163 at 4 weeks and 3 days; too hard to work out how many days PO as it was a FET for me. When I called the clinic I thought I was out because I had bleeding earlier and the receptionist told me otherwise and said "oh you're the lady with the really high levels"! One week later my level was 23,659. From then on because I had bleeding, I no longer had the BTs but many scans. Can't wait to hear whether you're having one or two ...

Brunette I am using cloth nappies during the day and disposables at night, only because I haven't really found a clothie that will keep them dry all night. I have a mixture of different types, Haute pockets, which are basically a waterproof cover with liners inside the pockets that soak up the wee, if you have a baby that is a heavy wetter you could put extra padding inside and you don't have to use the liners that you buy, you could use face washers or anything that will soak it up. I also have some minky Cushy Tushies, VERY cute, but cost more money. I also have some that I bought off ladies who work from home and make them selves, they have been good for a while but don't last long, they start to leak after a while and you need to put an extra cover over the top. I also have some Happy Heiny's, very similar to the Haute Pockets just a different brand, they are very good quality though, and good work horses. They wash well and dry really quickly, as the all in ones tend to take ages to dry and living down in Tassie you can imagine trying to get nappies dry is a nightmare! Baby behinds are another very good quality nappy, but hard to get dry and if you have babies with skinny legs, they tend to leak. All in all my favourites for quality and actually keeping bubs dry and poo explosions in and taking into account user friendliness , are the Happy Heiny's and Hautes, and I would recommend to get ones with snaps instead of velcro as velcro sticks to everything in the wash and doesn't last the distance that a nappy with snaps would. Basically look for good elastic in the legs, plenty of snaps to adjust to your babies size and also consider drying times, if they have the padding sewn in they will take longer to dry. I don't soak the nappies either, they go into a dry pail and when it's full they go into the washer on a 60 deg wash and extra rinse, plus I only use a small amount of detergent, you mustn't use napisan or conditioner as it affects the material and they aren't as absorbent. And for those early poo's (very messy) you can get flushable liners, which is much easier than trying to scrape it off into the loo with a spatula!

Thanks, Kezzabird. You are the font of all wisdom. I must go and check what the brands are that we picked up pamphlets on. I think cushy Tushies might have been one. I heard also about velcro that boys will undo the velcro - another downside - and reason for going for the snap clips. Plus you're right about drying time. I was told the hemp ones will take 12 hours and the minky ones a full day. Living in Brisbane with heaps of sun, that doesn't concern me as much; plus I was told they can go in the dryer if need be and won't hurt them. But good to know about not needing to soak. Must remember to check whether any of the brands have elastic around the legs. With the internet, no doubt I can get the brands you recommend anyway regardless of what state we live in.

whaooo cloth nappies i was doing my research on them when i was in hossy and it was doing my head in but I did do the figures and they are alot cheaper the desposiable nappies even if they were on special. Has anyone heard of peapod I think thats what they are called what are they like?

Whao Kezza I can't believe your girls are nearly 1 my gosh time flys. What are you going to do for their birthday. We talk about 1st birthday parties at my twin playgroup they have great ideas but I have a little bit more time to think about it. When did they start crawling?
I took Cody to the doctors last week and he also had bronchitis too he has been on medication and now is doing much better and starting to sleep through the night again yah its amazing what a great sleep can do. How do you cope with 2 little ladies crawling around. I think I might have to put up a gate at my kitchen door.

Brunette Harper started to sleep through around 3 months but Cody needed to put on more weight so I had to wake him every 3 hrs for a feed. Providing they are both healthy and are feeding really well fingers crossed they should sleep through for you around 2 to 3 months. Hope everything is going well for you. good luck with the nappy research let us know what brand you have decided on

The boys had there 6-9mths check up with the CYH nursers yesterday they are 7mths and 5days corrected and she said their developement is great Cody is a little developed in some stages then Harper is and Harper is a little developed in some stages then Cody is. Harper is alot more chilled out then Cody, Cody is so determined he's up on his knees but hasn't quite worked out how to move as for Harper he's just happy to sit there and chew on toys he will just get on his knees one day and start crawling and I am pretty sure it will be the same time as Cody, Cody just has to work a little harder then Harper but he will get there in the end.

    Hope everyone is going well.

Hey Azz, I'm glad Cody is better, Jennifer is getting there she still sounds a bit croupy, but the doc didn't wanna give her any drugs as he thought her chest sounded clear. Yes I've heard of Pea pods, I was talking to another twin mum about them, she tried them with her boys, but they leaked apparently she wasn't impressed as she said they were a lot of money. She's back to using disposables, it put her off cloth nappies, such a shame as cloths save you so much money. Having two of them crawling is a nightmare!!! LOL No seriously it's not that bad, but you have to have eyes everywhere! The play pen is a godsend though, wouldn't be without it. Other than that it's just a matter of making the house safe for them after all you can't watch them ALL the time. Get down on the floor on your hands and knees and see the house from there level, they will grab and touch everything that they can reach, so just make sure it's all safe or your precious bits are out of reach. Other than that it's a piece of cake We are having a birthday tea for the girls, I think I've invited too many people though, I thought some people wouldn't be able to make it, but it seems they all want to come! They absolutely love In the night garden, so I am going to attempt to make a Pinky ponk cake God knows what it will look like, probably a green blob! LOL

I hope everyone else is well.

Kezza - What is a pinkyponk cake? Aah, I have so much to learn.

Azzrenae - Great news that your boys could sleep through the night at such an early age - albeit, as you said, you had to wake Cody and feed him to make sure he was getting enough and growing. That's very reassuring. Has anyone fed both twins at the same time? That is what I am hoping to do but I don't know if I am being totally naieve! I am now totally confused about whether I'll go cloth or disposable. Someone on here said only disposables are good for nights. Another lady at my work said stuff cloth nappies; with twins you'll have enough to do and worry about without washing every day/second day. I've heard of Peapod too but didn't get to see them at the baby show we went to a couple of weeks ago, as we ran out of energy! All of the reusable brands I saw were not cheap, esp for twins. 40 nappies were about $1,000. I don't mind the outlay I suppose if they save money in the long term, but if I am still going to need disposables and the cloths, then I don't think it will be a cheaper option. Plus one of the ladies selling one of the cloth brands (can't remember the name; blame PG brain) was a mum herself and said you won't use them in hospital, and probably give yourself a couple of weeks at home to get your head around breastfeeding and all the rest of it before taking on remembering how to use a new nappy system. She was also honest enough to say that if they are going to child care, one of the types of reusables she was selling couldn't be used as they wouldn't change the nappies. So that meant we would have to buy a mixture! Soooo confusing. I'll probably play it by ear and see how we go. I think I'll have to have a c-section and will be pretty sore with that for a couple of weeks, and unable to do much so DH will have to do. No doubt he won't want to wash pooey nappies. It will be a struggle getting him to cook dinner for us both let alone any more than that I think.

There's a lady in my street who has twins - now almost 2 years old. I ran into her on a walk the other day; my first since falling PG. She walks every day rain, hail or shine and is as skinny as a whippet. Anyway, the good thing is after introducing myself I asked if I could call in on her some time and pick her brain, which she said yes. Yay! So I'm very happy about that. She is a superorganised person, too, like me so am hoping to get some good tips from her.

AFM, I am totally off all drugs now (IVF related) but am yet to feel any movement from these babies. On another thread, lots of women at my stage of PG are reporting feeling flutters/movement and I have twins! It has been a few weeks since my last scan. I was spoilt in a way, as with IVF and having problems early in my PG I had weekly scans, then fortnightly scans. My next scan is not until another 3-4 weeks, adn now I'm starting to worry there is a problem because I haven't felt anything! My boobs are still really sore and have been throughout my PG (sorry if TMI) so that's the only sign I have. I get cramps/pulling pain a lot which I have been told is the uterus expanding and the ligaments stretching. Aaaagh. I hate all this worrying.

    Hi lovely ladies,
Only just popping in as I am on dh iPad and it is no good to type on.

Brunette, I am tandem bf my girls, I have only lasted this long using a tandem feeding pillow, I hire this from the local multiple birth association, have looked at joining yours? I pay $10 per month, much cheaper than buying one. From birth I expressed every 3 hour, had a go with both bf to work on attachment, fed colostrum by syringe, topped up a little with formula until my milk came in, and also feed by nasal tube for a few days. I had 7 nights in hospital, by the time we left they were mostly bottle fed ebm with a fast flow teat to get the milk in as quick as possible to help with weight gain. I slowly dropped a bottle feed each day and added a bf so within a week or so they were exclusively bf. I only recently introduced formula as I am starting to wean. So it is totally doable to tandem feed, bf one at a time, or bottle feed both, all by yourself (I always do night shifts by myself as is the one working). If you are seriously wanting to bf then I highly recommend a double electric breast pump, but wait until you see how your milk comes in/whether you like it ect, you can use the pumps in hospital, then buy one when you leave, you can hire but costs about $100/ month, if you plan to use for a while it is better to buy. I am still using mine to express once a day (in place of the formula feed we are doing) and it was totally valuable to get my milk supply established, express extra for storage and to also ensure I had enough to cope with growth spurts.

Re nappies I have only used disposable but applaud those that have used cloth, though I don't know where you find the time.

I didn't feel any movement until 20 weeks, however I didn't really know what to look for, don't worry, you will be fine.

Kezza gl with your pinky pink cake, what fun I have to look forward to lol.

Azz great to hear the boys are doing well.

    Love to all xx
