prams?

hi im 15 weeks pregnant with twins after trying for many years.i have just started to look at prams and find a lot of them very heavy and im not sure what to look for as far as features go.can anyone help me with finding the right one.any other twin tips on what to buy would be useful too.thanks looking forward to chatting with you all.babies due 7/7/07

Congrats on ur twins firstly!! How exciting if ther were born on their due date 7/7/7 LOL!!

As for prams...im not much help with twin ones. But before u buy, make sure it will fit in ur car, that its not to heavy, has safety features, and an all rounder good brand.

thanks to everyone.i guess its just a matter of looking around and seeing what feels right? yeah the EDD is bizarre because every appointment we have had has had a meaning so far.the embryos were transferred on fri 13th oct and my hosp appointment was 9th jan which was my late mums bday and the next one is valentines day!!my sisiter is putting a baby shower on for me on april fools day.i dont know what sex they are yet unfortunately but cant wait to find out next visit.this site has been great to chat and getting lots of great support.

My pram is the Linque from Bertoli and it is a bit bulky and heavy. We bought it because it was the last one in store, and on display and it was only $104 AUD. We thought it was a bargain. It has 3 wheels. Sometimes it is easy to manage and sometimes, I just can't wait to get rid of it

The Valco runabout is about $570 -$650 - the advantage of other prams is it also has a toddler seat if you want another soon ... not in my case.

It is a good pram from posts I read but it is heavier than some cheaper ones.

The best advice I could give you is to join your local MBA and go to one of their coffee mornings or playgroups. there you will see a variety of twin prams in use and can speak to the mums about what they like or don't like about them
I had a babycare twin shopper which was great and light - but not great for walking long distances on rough ground. The valco is great for that but is heavier.
Another idea is to get a valco for everyday and a twin stroller for when they can sit up a little. Then you have the best of both worlds.
Your local MBA should also have a publication in which members advertise their wares second hand. A great place to pick up bargain cots, prams and car seats. Definately worth a look into

Linny - you can go usually go to an expectant parents meeting and another for free before you have the babies. I can find out the local one for you and ask when it is.

I have the Valco twin and find it great. My 2 are still in it and it fitsin my car fine. I may get the toddler seat for it when this next one is born.

thanks guys ill go and have another look at the valco i asked a woman in the shops the other day she had 2 week old twin girls(firstly how brave is she taking them out already with another 3 year old daughter and they were sooo cute)and she was really happy with her valco also.yes trish i went thru westmead fertility clinic and am booked in there to have the babies they have been fantastic so far.that would be great if you could give me the contact number for that group.

Hi everyone its been pretty quiet in here.i ended up getting the steelcraft double pram so fingers crossed it does a good job.we bought the 2 cots and got 2 free mattress also got a change table with the bath that pulls out. hope you are all doing well

I think you've got a good pram. Well done on free mattresses. We had our cots and mattresses from a daycare centre for free as well. Do you know freecycle? It's a great website. I found the change table with the bath that pulls out, a bit annoying because I had to fill it up with a bucket and empty it the same way in the garden. My twins now have their bath in the big bath and they really enjoy it

Thanks karla0 we find out what we are having on wed at our 20week scan so then i can really hit the shops lol.
Chriscoop-no i havent heard about that site ill have a look.I think all changetables with the baths are a bit of a hassle but my girlfriend had the 1 where you lift the top and the bath underneath and she didnt like it so i went the other.i guess you dont use them for too long.
feeling relly nervous about my scan on wed although i know i should be excited but last week at my monthly visit the dr said everything fine but that night i looked at the hosp card and she had written an abbreviation under problems.when i looked it up on the net it sounded horrific.so next morning after a sleepless night i rang hosp back and spoke to midwife who then asked a dr who said it was ok not to worry.How can i not worry still its still playing on my mind now the seeds of doubt have been planted.
Did anyone have a scare through their pregnancy and how did they handle it?
On top of this i have lost a good friend who lost a twin 6 years ago and hates me for having twins and posted something really hurtful on another site which she knew i was a member of.i havent confronted her yet cause still really upset and angry about it.can anyone suggest how i should handle it.Thanks i needed to get it off my chest and would appreciate your input.

Hi linny, when we had our 20 week scan, we found that twin B had a choroid plexus cyst on his brain. We looked it up and found that he had a chance of being born with Downs Syndrome. We weren't going to find out until he was born, but that didn't worry us as we knew we would love him anyway. When we spoke to the O/b, he told us everything we'd found out, and he told us not to worry as the chances of it happening was still very low.

I wouldn't worry, because if it was serious, they would tell you straight away, because they would have to start talking about options when your babies are born.

As to your friend, I really don't have much advice for you. My guess would be that she may not have allowed herself to grieve for the baby that she has lost, and now that you are having twins the only way that she can cope with the fact is by lashing out in anger towards you. Maybe send her a card or letter explaining how much she has hurt you if you want to salvage the friendship. She may not have thought ahead of time before posting on the other site. Apart from that, I really don't know.

Hi Linny,

Same thing for me... at my 20weeks ultrasound, we also found out that my little boy had a choroid plexus cyst at the back of his brain. My OB asked me if I wanted to have amnio. I said no, because we were going to keep him anyway. I just had another ultrasound at 25weeks to be prepared for a child with DS if the cyst was still here, but it wasn't there anymore. My little boy is fine and full of energy. He is just a little bit smaller than his sister.

For your friend, I don't know what to say. I can understand that she is still grieving for her lost, but you are not to blame for that.

Thanks girls what a relief that that your boys were ok its such a nervous time isnt it.This thing was called mcda but im hoping that it was written as a please check thing when we go wed.I am the same ive had no downs tests or anything because we wouldnt have done anything anyway they are still our babies no matter what.
Thanks for the advice on my friend but it is over i think she emailed me a couple of times last night and just cant deal with me taking her dream away(they were her words) and unfortunately i cant help what im having and wont apologise for it we waited and tried too damn hard and ive been so supportive of her for many years so im really hurt that she feels now is the time to vent at me.im sad we might have lost us but she just keeps upsetting me and i have to think of the babies and dont want to keep stressing out.Anyway life throws these things at you sometimes.I appreciate your
help and ill let you know how the scan goes on wed ive got everything crossed.
