    Doula questions

    Hi
We're meeting a potential doula soon - is there anything in particular I should ask her?
    Appreciate any suggestions,
    Thanks.

    Hi there!

Here are a few things that might get you started.

Tell me about one of your favourite births you've attended; what did you enjoy?

What kind of things do you find that partners feel are helpful during a birth?

Do you have a back-up incase you are unable to attend my birth? Will we meet her before the birth?

Can we speak to other parents whose birth you have attended?

Do you offer any other services such as Breastfeeding support, postpartum services, childbirth classes etc??

    Hope that helps some.

    All the best!

I really wanted a natural birth with no drugs and my doula supported that, but on the day I was really glad that she was able to support the decisions I made to have pain relief (gas) and to make me feel like I made the best decisions i could at the time, I would make sure that your doula will genuinely support any decision you make, you don't need to feel like you are under pressure not to let her down. Having said that the doulas job is to give you unconditional support you and i think you'd find that most can. I'd just make sure that you feel you can trust her and go with your instinct. My birth was a little difficult and I needed a vacume extraction ( lot's of fussing I hadn't planned on
)I feel that having a doula made soooo much difference to how I felt about my birthing experience. Yay birthing, Yay doulas

    Doula Questions

    Hi,

I think you can ask all the questions in the world but you must click with your doula and feel comfortable around her!! I think you will know instantly. A doula can provide you with all the information in the world, but I believe their must be a connection between you and your doula. Also make sure your partner feels 100% comfortable with her. You are going to sharing a special journey together so a mutual connection is always a good start....

    Hope this helps!!

    Becky.
