kids artwork should do, or the great decorated rock - rock, glue, glitter, googly eyes dada da da fathers day present
See I would have been happy with that (easily pleased) but apparently because Childcare/school didn't get the girls to make anything (except the card which DD1 made at school) he didn't think to get them to make something.

Keike - he always has a list of things that he wants. It's one of his favourite past times, researching things on the net that he would like and then emailing me the links

DS got DH a card (made at nursery) and a keyring (made at church) for Father's Day this year (we celebrate earlier than you in my country) and DH wasn't fussed. I completely forgot it as I was preparing for an exam. Which meant an earful from my mother as I forgot to post something to my father too.

Thing is, DH doesn't do anything for Mothering Sunday either. It isn't a big deal for us. I don't want a calendar to tell me which days I am supposed to be appreciated: do it all year round! Neither of us do breakfast in bed as we don't like sleeping on crumbs, but coffee in bed is nice - but can happen any time in the year and that makes it more special.

Hmmm I don't think two wrongs make a right, do you? Regardless of what he did or didn't do for you on Mothers' Day, I think you should be the 'better' person and if you think he's a wonderful father, then celebrate that with him on the day.

I don't expect anything on Mother's Day, but if I do get something, it's a bonus Our children are already our gifts.

I'm going to do something up for DH for Father's Day because I think he's a wonderful father to our girls and deserves it.

I'm sure you're a great mum, you don't need a gift from anyone to prove that!
I agree with this and after you make it wonderful, maybe the next day, explain that to be made to feel appreciated is how you would like to feel on Mother's Day too. Perhaps it might sink in a bit better that way?

I hear you hon The meany side of me would like to boycot fathers day but I just don't have the heart to do it This was my 1st mothers day I didn't get any gift, not even a hand made card, dh didn't even tell me how much of a great mum I am He did go out an get us thai so that I didn't need to cook. BUT there were circumstances which made it very hard for dh to be any more 'present' in specialness of the day so I was very understanding. He was also understanding when I was in tears at the end of the day. I told him that I can never get back my 1st mothers day, which is sad for me as I'm really sentimental like that. I am incredibly thankful though that dh is a wonderful husband and father EVERY DAY and that is way more important than one day which is marked to be mothers day. Sooooo whilst I'd like to do nothing for him in return for his 1st fathers day I will do something

So that means I get to go out the night before and not come home til midday on fathers day? Oh and send him off to work as soon as I get home. Thats how my mothers day was.

I have bought a card from the girls and will get them to make something also and get him something small from them but doing that for the girls sake not for his. He'll prolly just spend the day laying in bed on a hangover anyway.
