Anyone get married in fiji? or been to a wedding in fiji?

Hi we recently got engaged yay
I have been married before and really did not like my wedding, i am not comfortable about being centre of attention, so this time i would really like to enjoy the day. Dp actually DF lol has agreed that we will have a small wedding with just family and one or two close friends. I am happy to have a party with no speaches etc afterwards with everyone but on the day i want it to just be a select few. We are thinking of getting married in queensland next year as we are having a family holiday with 3 out of my 4 siblings and parents but also toying with the idea of fiji as we have both always wanted to take the kids .
Has anyone been married there and if so, what was it like, would you recommend it?
Or have you been to a wedding there and have some advice?

    TIA

Congratulations! My Best friend got married in Fiji at the Warwick Hotel with just family there and she loved it. They didn't have any hassles with paperwork except they needed her parents permission as she was under 21 and in Fiji that was underage. The best thing about this was that she went down with terrible vomiting on her wedding day and couldn't even stand - they couldn't get married that day - they just got married the next day - without a massive reception etc booked it didn't matter and her wedding photo's are beautiful.

    congratulations.
i was married in fiji last year at the naviti resort on the coral coast, we had a lovely sunset wedding overlooking a remote island on the balcony of the bar at the resort.
i even had a professional photographer, he was really well priced, i think $500 for the whole day and all photos on CD for me to print as i needed.
the wedding co-ordinator at the resort was great we arranged it all via email, was $1600 fijian for the whole package flowers were $120 for huge boquet of frangipannis.
we took over my dress, no issues with the plane they took it up to buisness class and kept it hanging in teh coat cupboard.

the resort is great for kids, we hardly saw DS he spent all his time with the kids club.

we did dinner at the chinese resterant was sooo yummy and all included with our accomidation package.

i had hjair and make up done by the girls there was $50 bucks for both.

i have a stack of photos on my face book page if you want to look.
any questions just ask or send me a pm.

yes it is legal and recognised within australia. we had to send some paper work over and get a single status certificate to say we are not married to someone else lol

My friends have stayed at the Warwick with their kids a few times and they absolutely love it.

    hi abb34,

having lived in fiji for 2 years i have been to LOADS of weddings there!!

i can highly recommend the warick resort on the coral coast. it is a beautiful hotel with all the trimmings and great services for the kids (and really awesome nannies for bubs if needed).

my fave wedding was held at sunset there as the light is just gorgeous, and usually there is a gentle breeze that comes over at that time of the day providing relief.

the food at the warick wedding was delicious (they did a buffet style and this also kept it really low key). the couple basically used the wedding planner of the hotel to have everything organised and were wedded by the local minister. it was really beautiful and needless to say the photos were divine!

i know someone that does beautiful photography and can PM you her details if you
    would like...

p.s. also if you stay at the warick there is a pizza restaurant there that is just YUMMY mmm......
also, if you have guests that might not be able to afford the hotel there is a great place just down the beach called Tubakula Cottages (pron. toombakula) that is a more affordable option, but is walking distance along the beach and has quite nice accommodation (we used to stay there alot.... ).

    Mrs Mac thankyou

Clare thanks so much, i am getting excited now, i am researching atm and its getting rather confusing as i have never been there and honestly dont know what to expect. My sister just got back this week from a wedding at the Shangri La and sais it was beautiful, i have looked at there prices etc and it seems a little expensive compared to a few others. At this stage i think there will be probably around 25 of us and 10 being children ranging from 2 to 15 so i need to keep the kids in mind also. We dont have alot of money so i will be looking at things closely.

we found the naviti great for kids, the warick is its sister hotel and they are linked, the kids can use the kids club at either which si great, but the rooms at the naviti are cheaper adn you get all food and alcohol included in the package.
it was cheaper than the warrick as well but just as nice IMHO.

we are looking at goiung back next august

I got married at the NAVITI RESORT , i also got engaged there ... the first time we love it and DH proposed , and it was so budget friendly and a great place we went back there to get married !!

we had a blast , there was about 30 guests all up and we gave them heaps of time to get all the money $1600 all inclusive in flights for 7 days !!

the warrick is nice ,. been there twice to visit while at the naviti , nice place , but you have to pay for everything and its a bit boring ( naviti is all inclusive food and drink inc alcohol)

and we had kids come along so it was great for them ... would not hesitate to reccomend getting married there , it was worth it

mow we are just waiting till DD is older so we can go as a family !!

ETA : kawazuki : how cool !!!! we tied the knot just down the stairs at the reception area. where the water falls are and a litte wooden deck thing

it was so funny , during the service i had a cricket in my dress and had to stop the service and get it out , then i saw someone walking around nude( a guy) in there room with the curtians open , not realsising there was a wedding on , pmsl !!

Wow! Congrats - I am sure it will be awesome.
MrsMac's brother is my DH. The wedding just over 3 years ago (the weekend I found out I was pg with DD... awwwww...) was at the Warwick, and it was very professional and very nice, even though the weather wasn't kind to them. He got some fabulous shots (and as his assistant for the day, so did I - one of mine even made it into their album, LOL!). The staff were wonderful and the food was nice from memory. I am not sure whether this couple got special treatment though - her parents are nationals and friends with the president
Sounds like you've been given a great lead though on a place that's more cost effective. I imagine the wedding we attended would've cost a fair bit.
GL - I am sure you will have a glorious wedding day!

Snacks thanks i hope it all works out, its funny i said i would never get married again as i am not one to be centre of attention but i am very excited about this. I think it will be only 20 - 25 of us there so it will be very personal.

Sweets, I think you need to be prepared to be the centre of attention on your own wedding day! But 20-25 people sounds lovely and intimate. I'm sure it'll be beautiful.
