    Godparents

Just wondering if anyone knew when is a good time to ask prospective godparents if they want the task? I am 5 months pregnant and we know who we want but don't know when is the right time to ask them. We aren't religuous so am looking at a naming ceromony, is that the normal thing to do when religion isn't involved?

    Hi Kate,
With DD#1 we asked her godparents after she was born - when they came into the hossy to see her. I personally dont think it really matters when you ask - they'll be happy either way!
Your EDD is the same as mine was for Emily!
    Good luck!

Im not sure what the "rules" are for a naming day, but I would wait until the baby is born. When they meet the baby and fall in love with him/her, that would be a perfect time!

We'd had a rough pregnancy, and DH's best friend of a very long time and his wife were just wonderful, always helping us and doing for us and cooking for us, they just seemed like the perfect choice. One day after another long hospital stay she popped around with a big box of baby items - creams, nappies, Lullaby cd's, tissues, wipes - you get the idea!! Anyway, this happened when I was only 5 months pregnant, and I was so overwhelmed by the gesture, I asked them on the spot

I think at any time they will be so happy and feel a conection to your baby weather born yet or not, I do like the idea of asking them in the hossy when they meet and fall in love with your beautiful newborn baby Like Danni said that sounds really special.

Yeah a naming day is what you would do if you dont nessesarily want to baptise in a church, but if you do want to include some religion but not go to far into the religious side of it the celebrant should do that for you too.

    Good luck

I'd start thinking about it Kate, but perhaps not ask until bub is born - unless you're super sure and the choice is obvious and easy.
