    Help with wedding flowers

    Hello!!

My wedding is coming up very very soon and I still havent decided on wedding flowers (Ahhh!!) I had decided on something but then changed my mind!!

I am now looking in to having lilies and tulips with some greenery. So my question is....... would it be best if the bridesmaid and I have the same style of flowers - as in a posy or a teardrop??? I was planning to have a teardrop and the bridesmaid a small posy...

I was an October bride and had Lily of the Valley, and my matron of honour and I both had posies.......but with lilies/tulips you could have either.

I went with the same for both of us becasue it just felt right that way, although from memory the lady that did my flowers made my posy a tad bigger........

I had cream & champagne coloured roses in a large posy tied with cream & gold ribbon to match my dress. My bridesmaids had smaller posies with dark red roses and purple irises tied with matching ribbons. Our little flowergirl had a miniature version of my bouquet.

I don't know if it's necessary to have two different bouquet styles as you can use different types of flowers.

The more I think about it the more I think that it will look better having the styles the same! I look at the two types I like and think it just wouldnt look right.. So if I dont think it looks right now, I will probably regret it at the wedding!

We had lillies. Its my favourite flower! I had one bridesmaid (my sister) and we both had posies. We actually just bought the flowers and some pretty ribbons and arranged the bunches ourselves. They turned out really nice.

i had roses it looked like all shades of the pink spectrum put together. i had posies for all, mine was the biggest, the birdesmaids had smaller, and the junior birdesmaids smaller again. and the girls had two diff dressed, n 2 diff shades of pink.. boys had 1 single pink rose and Dh had 1 ivory rose, as he had iviro tie and that, boys had ties to match older girls dresses which was a pinky lilac colour...

i wen this way as they had strapless and a line dresses, as did i, and the posies suited the dresses.

I had a pink and silver theme for my wedding. I carried a bouquet of cream and pink roses which was tied together with a silver ribbon. My bridesmaids had slightly smaller bouquets which had cream, pink and pinky-purple roses (the pinky purple matched their dresses). My flower girls carried silver baskets containing roses and wore cute halos on their heads. I even found a creamy pink rose for my dad and hubby called 'Emma'. The matching theme and bouquet style looked wonderful in the photos.

The florist will most likely have a display book for you to look through too..

I just had another thought- the style of flowers will probably be influenced by the time of day the ceremony is and the style of dresses you have

we decided against the teardrop/posey discussion for exactly this reason - and went with "sheaths" of roses instead - i had a larger and mixed color sheath (red and white), bridesmaids had white only.

i was part of another wedding where both bride and bridesmaids had sheaths of singapore orchids - bride had a paler shade of purple, bridesmaids a deep purple

just as another suggestion to confuse you more!

My bridesmaids and I all had posies of oriental lilies - mine was bigger and had more flowers, where their's was smaller and had more greenery than mine.

Sorry to be a downer, but tulips aren't in season in summer. You could try ordering them in special, but they will wilt very quickly - possibly won't even make it until your photos - I originally wanted to have tulips myself, but for a February wedding, it just wasn't possible.

Try Googleing flower's in season, and you should be able to find something that you like that is in season.

    Good luck for your wedding!

Ahh bugger!! Thanks for pointing that out. I havent seen a florist yet so I will have a chat to them and see what they think. I could always change the tulips to roses or something like that.

Just don't mention to the florist it is a wedding as they will probably up the price. I had lillies and iris', just bought the flowers and arranged ourselves. I have 5 lillies and 3 iris while my 2 bridesmaids had 3 lillies and 1 iris - same design. Good luck and hope it all works out well

I had teardrop and the bridesmaids had posies which looked nice(I thought) The florist usually has great ideas of whats available at the time. Bridal magazines or online would be another good place to look.

I was a November bride, I had natives and proteas - mine were all white/gold, the bridesmaids were all pinks & the flowergirl a mix of the both.

I went to the flower markets and spoke to the florist, we walked through rooms of flowers to pick the bouquets.
