Question I finally got my own way

Well after much deliberation, and confusion, anger, hissyfitting etc we have decided to 'elope' without eloping.... just not telling everyone, can just have a nice ceremony and go out for dinner.... have like 30 ppl or less. Just not in the mood to organise a wedding way too stressful. Plus we could really spend the money on other things that we need (like a new lappy for me hehe).

So what would the best wording be for this change??

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Jen,

Sorry I havent been able to catch up with all your other posts - did you send out any invites or anything? Or are you just seeking some advice as to what you would put on an invitation? Id just say something like 'Come and join us for a luncheon in honour of our marriage' or something like that..you dont have to use the word 'wedding' if you think it conveys the message of a more formal affair IYKWIM? You could always have your 'ceremony' at the registry office (is there one in the gong?). BOL sweets

I'd go with "an elopement is announced" and have a picture of running shoes

Else, just invite everyone to a "pre-wedding party"

    Hey thanks for your replies..
No invites have been sent yet, we have months to go.. sept. I had a look and its going to cost us $35 a head, instead of $60, a nice dinner and have the cake for dessert, just thinking do i want chair covers?????

If i mention the word 'wedding' on top of the function they charge an arm and a leg.....
Now hubby wants most ppl to come just not his aunts and uncles that live interstate, so its gone to about 60ish ppl
    grr...

I love the idea of the elopment announcement and the running shoes!!

Whats the cost of the chair covers? If its expensive and the chairs are fairly decent, then you dont have to have the covers, you could use that money towards drinks. Also - ask if you can bring your own table decorations - that way you could get some larger candles, tea lights and other bits and pieces along the table, for around $20 - $40 and spruce things up that way. (Id go to those $2 shops).

My BiL said "we invite you to our secret wedding". And then sent other people a little note afterwards saying "Surprise! We got married and are now honymooning in Queensland..."

They had immediate family and friends but not all the other people who would have "expected" to be invited. I suppose that there were about 40 people there.
