As an aside....DH's niece is getting married on a Thursday but it is being held at Kings Park (Perth) at 11am and then the recpetion at Roleystone at 6pm. We won't be going as to cut costs they aren't inviting all partners and definitely no children - not even to the ceremony (which is outside in a park wtf???). Even her future BIL's partner (who he's been living with in a defacto relationship for a few years - they have a toddler) is not invited. People are too weird....

How dare they! Weddings are expensive, and unfortunately these days it's not financially possible to invite all people. It's quite the norm these days.
i guess "selective" invites, IMO, wouldn't extend to long term defacto relationships... Especially when it's the grooms brother we're talking about. the grooms sister in law and his nephew being excluded just feels all sorts of wrong... i'd rather have an intimate do with long term couples and people i'm close to, than to alienate everyone by banning their partner and kids from the local park.... I totally get the "no kids at the reception cos it's gonna cost us x amount", but a local park? Just my opinion...

As to the Monday wedding, yes, i'd go to a wedding on a Monday. I wouldn't much care when it was - my considerations come down more to travel and accommodation than date

(unless it's at a time when work is crazy busy and i have no hope in hell of getting time off - so notice comes into it too)
