As an aside....DH's niece is getting married on a Thursday but it is being held at Kings Park (Perth) at 11am and then the recpetion at Roleystone at 6pm. We won't be going as to cut costs they aren't inviting all partners and definitely no children - not even to the ceremony (which is outside in a park wtf???). Even her future BIL's partner (who he's been living with in a defacto relationship for a few years - they have a toddler) is not invited. People are too weird....[/QUOTE]w

How dare they! Weddings are expensive, and unfortunately these days it's not financially possible to invite all people. It's quite the norm these days.

i guess "selective" invites, IMO, wouldn't extend to long term defacto relationships... Especially when it's the grooms brother we're talking about. the grooms sister in law and his nephew being excluded just feels all sorts of wrong... i'd rather have an intimate do with long term couples and people i'm close to, than to alienate everyone by banning their partner and kids from the local park.... I totally get the "no kids at the reception cos it's gonna cost us x amount", but a local park? Just my opinion...

As to the Monday wedding, yes, i'd go to a wedding on a Monday. I wouldn't much care when it was - my considerations come down more to travel and accommodation than date

(unless it's at a time when work is crazy busy and i have no hope in hell of getting time off - so notice comes into it too)

With notice, I would consider it. Would try to attend.

Actually, DH and I would take holiday and attend if we could. Would usually have to be close family if it were a school day (due to leave for me), but in the school holidays it would be fine.

I had a Saturday wedding, but that was due to people travelling and stuff. Plus I did want the big "look at me" soirée after the wedding.

Yep definitely given enough notice. These days for alot of people, a Monday would be easier to take off than a Saturday. It's seven day trading for most places with weekends being their busiest and Monday generally quiet.

Like some others have said, so long as I was given enough notice to organise it with work, I'd be there (and if I wasn't.....oooops work - I'm sick today!)!

Well all good so far then

I have started jotting down a heap of notes and ideas, and a long list of things I need to work out. Oh. My. Goodness.

Yes I would. If the people getting married thought I was important enough to be invited to their wedding then I would attend any day it was on (given that I could arrange it).

Aso a great idea for a day off work!

I would go to a wedding on any day of the week.

Monday for health, Tuesday for wealth, Wednesday best of all,
Thursday for losses, Friday for crosses, Saturday for no luck at all

We were married on a Saturday .....bugger!

I'm tired of going to weddings that are just a "look at me, look at me" event and not about the love and commitment that two people have for each other.... I say go for it! What better day to married than on your anniversary.
We were married on a Sunday... What the hell does that mean!?!?!

TT40; Very exciting, although am thinking that should have been planning this seriously since, like, ages ago! Only because it's at the end of February. Swear swaer swear. And, it is a week after I'm planning on DD's sixth birthday party. That will also be difficult, as I've never thrown a birthday party before!
