Engagement party - how much notice do you give?

When DH and I got engaged we had a party and invites went out 5 weeks before the date.

Whats the normal amount of noticce to give for this sort of occasion?

I have just found out that my GF is engaged and is having an engagement party. Another friend has an ivite for me (GF is interstate, I am assuming party will be here as this is where her loved ones are) but I dont have it yet.

Anyway, would you think it would be before 9th Feb, thats 4 weekends from now?

Rayray i am pretty hopless with invites and things. I sent invites out for engagement party two weeks before..... not sure what protocol is though. So i guess if the friends are hopeless like me.......maybe if could be before then.......

lol if its before then thats ok, but if its the 2nd or 9th we will be away and I will have to make a 5 hour round trip to go

I'm betting it will be on the 9th. It will the the 3rd thing (they come in thress) I have had to turn down if it is. Mmm I hope she is being super organised and its later than that though, cos I am super excited for her and I really want to go!
