Is this a tacky idea?

Nah I think it's a cute idea! I hang out with my mum at her bowls club all the time, I'm thinking of having dd's 1st birthday there

Nothing better than a good package either, so you don't have to worry about a thing. Is that a good price? I never looked into receptions when I got married so I'm not sure about the value. If you like the place then why not?

I think so too. And this is way cheesy but it was the place we had our first date many moons ago, that place has alot of memories and to me it would be special but DP isn't so sure. He's always so worried about what people think..

I estimated for 50 people and it works out to about $4500. And with a small ceremony, rings, dress and tuxe should be no more than $8000. Obviously we won't get married anytime soon as i'd need over a year to save and plan! But its nice to know that its an option.

We had our reception at an Ex-services club. It was fantastic. Alot of people have their recptions at clubs. Although it only cost us around $20-30 pp, we had 100 guests, three course meals and then put $1000 over the bar for beer and wine (albeit 7yrs ago now). My advice is ring around a few of the different clubs in the area and compare prices. For $90 a head you should have a choice of quite a few different venues around Canberra, although at least you already know that the food at the Raiders is decent.

Just thought I would add, my sister had her first wedding (the English wedding) in a park in London followed by a lunch in their local pub, and the second wedding (the australian version for us Aussies

) in her PIL's backyard - everyone loved them and she got to celebrate twice!
